Taste Testing Tuesdays (4)

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays!
Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading

On the menu this week is a sample of two books I'm currently reading.  The first is a Christmas classic sure to reach even the most hardened readers at this time of year.  The second is a memoir of a remarkable young man making his place in the world with everything he has.  Let's take a sample, shall we?

"He said that Christmas was a humbug as I live!" cried Scrooge's nephew.  "He believed it too!" -- pg 78, A Christmas Carol Special Edition by Charles Dickens, edited by Stephen Skelton

I sat there, slouched under a fleece jester's cap, its formless points drooping over my flushed face.  I was looking down at the steepest run I'd yet seen in my four weeks of skiing, and I could feel my elbows beginning to go wobbly as my confidence hitched itself somewhere in my throat. -- pg 43, Double Take:  A Memoir by Kevin Michael Connolly (ARC)

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

*Grab your current read

*Open to a random page

*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Until next time....happy reading!

Good ones! I really want to read the 1st one.

Juju: It's really good because it's got the original text which lets you see how much liberty some editions and movies actually took...and it's got interesting tidbits of information apart from the discussionary topics. Review is coming soon on this one!

Good books! I read A Christmas Carol a few years ago.

I'm not sure I've ever read A Christmas Carol, isn't that awful? I must read it soon :) Great teasers here are tempting me!

Patty: Me too! Ironically enough though...it turns out it wasn't the original text....there are so many alterations!

Bella: I definitely recommend it and what more perfect time of year to do so!
