Roll out the red carpet....

Hi there!

Guess what?
It's Wednesday...YAY!
You know what that means, right?

-- waits for answer --

No really, DO you know what that means...because I sure don't, but we're going to wing it anyway.

Today's post would normally be a review but you know what...it's the beginning of the year and we all need a little time to gather our resources again, right?  **hopes for nod of agreement**  Truth be told, I depleted almost all of my "read" books last month and so far this year, I've finished one novel and two picture books so I need to build up the reserves so to speak....BUT, that doesn't mean the fun stops on here!  After all, there will be reviews this week, just not today, and this affords me the time to pass along something I received at year's end from one of you fabulous bloggers.

Roll out the red carpet....it's time for an award!
The badge of honor being passed along today is...

...the Stylish Blogger Award!

I've received this award in the past, but the most recent nod comes from Mary Ann over at Tribute Books Mama (THANK YOU).  Be sure to check out her site for book reviews as well as other entertainment related posts...all of which offer a unique perspective on what's going on "now".

The rules for this award are as follows...
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

------------------------------------------------------------

Hmm...7 things about myself...I always have a hard time with these things.  Let's see....

7 Things You May (or May Not) Want to Know About Me

1.  October and December are my favorite months.  I think the weather and the holidays (including birthdays) have something to do with it.  ^_^

2.  I went to 3 different high schools.  Yep...and before you even think it, I wasn't a bad kid.  Our family just moved to another district and then there was a change to private school.  During my sophomore year, I went to one school for the first half of the year and another for the second.  What was funny about it was the first school was on the block schedule system...4 classes/periods for the first part of the year and the other 4 during the second half.  The second school had the old 8 classes/periods for the entire year.  I ended up with 4 study halls and had to make up the first half of the year in the remaining 4 subjects I was currently taking.  (Confused yet?  LOL.)

3.  My favorite subject in school was....English Literature.  (Surprised?  I didn't think so.  ^_^)

4.  I love post-it notes...not the brand per se, but the item.  I have about --counts-- *ahem* 21 packs in my desk drawer right now...all with different pictures or characters on them.  We've got monster ones for Halloween, Beatrix Potter ones for spring, polar bears for winter...and currently using little checkered ones with a reindeer on the bottom corner.  They're useful for their intended purpose, but they also make great bookmarks and portable note space (I stick one or two in the books I'm reading to jot notes on the go).

5.  I don't eat snack cakes very often, but at Christmas time...I make an exception.  Those Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes with the little green sprinkles...FAVORITE...and yet I'm not a fan of the other ones (go figure).

6.  If I pass a bookstore, I can not resist going in.  Whether I walk out with a new purchase is something else altogether, but I simply can't walk by without looking around.  (I know, it's an addiction...but I'm SO not working on it...hehe.)

7.  I have a Sony Pocket eReader (in pink, no less) that I received as a gift about a year or so ago, but it is ONLY for back up reads...as in classic books or secondary copies of books I already have or the dreaded "oh-no-I-unexpectedly-finished-my-paper-book-and-need-something-to-read-pronto".  Call me old fashioned, but I REALLY love my paper books.

------------------------------------------------------------

Now to pass along this little beauty.  Though I'd love to pass it to each and every one of you, the rules dictate 15 "recently discovered" so I'm going to try to play by the rules.

I am another one who is addicted to post-it notes. My students think it's hilarious that my binders are full of post-its, but I would seriously have a tough time surviving without them. I hate lists so I out everything on post-its; it makes me feel like I've accomplished something when I remove one rather than just cross it off a list.

Thank you so much for the reward. By the way, I have a purple e-reader!!!

Congratulations!

And, erm, I'm with you on the sticky-note thing. I don't have designed ones, but I have a huge collection of ones that say things like "will handle this tomorrow" or "top secret."

They amuse me WAY too much.
