Save the animals...please?

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers....the place to be when you need to unwind and a good book sounds like just the ticket.  This week should have been referred to as Peachtree Week.  Why?  Simple....yesterday's review, a Peachtree Publishers title.  Tomorrow's blog tour guest...a Peachtree title.  Today's review....ironically enough...you guessed it, a Peachtree Publishers title yet again.  What can I say?  It was totally unplanned but it just goes to show you the capacity for greatness that their catalog contains.

Today's title showcases that greatness with its art, its story AND its message.  There's more than meets the eye in this storybook and that's saying a lot especially when what meets the eye is so darn cute!  Without further adieu, today's book of choice is....

PI-SHU
THE LITTLE PANDA
by
John Butler

There's something about panda bears that's captures the heart.  Perhaps it's their innate cuteness, or maybe how they grow from helpless tiny babes to big fluffy bamboo eaters in seemingly no time flat.  Perhaps its how even though mankind keeps reaching further and further into their homelands, they still persevere ...but only just.  It is that life and death struggle that is showcased here through the eyes of little Pi-shu.

We see his tiny self enter this great big world and be cared for lovingly by his Mother.  He's shown the ins and outs of being a panda so that one day he can show a little one of his own.  One lesson learned was unexpected to say the least when out on one of his romps, he runs smack dab into mankind.  His beloved forest is gone along with his food supply causing him to run anxiously back to his Mom, who knows just what to do to keep her family safe (as all Moms do).

It's hard to watch them struggle to find a new place to call home but such is the case in real life for these magnificent creatures. Their natural habitats are dwindling and without some caring, some action on our part....one day we may be referring to them in the past tense as opposed to the here and now; a sad day for one and all.

The author did a wonderful job of creating a 2D world enchanting enough to be enjoyed for the beautiful story it is but realistic enough to strike home to.older readers.  The illustrations only enhance the experience leaving you breathless as you gaze at the Misty Mountains or ooh and ahh at little Pi-shu.

A great reminder of just what we stand to lose should man's expansion into the "wild" continue at its current rate...and a wonderful way to instill the thought of conservation in the hearts and minds of the next generation. Recommended read for all ages....can't imagine anyone who wouldn't glean enjoyment or knowledge from this fuzzy tale.  This book is available now from Peachtree Publishers at a bookstore near you.  For more information on this title as well as their complete catalog, feel free to visit them online (http://www.peachtree-online.com) or follow along on Twitter (http://twitter.com/PeachtreePub).

Until next time....happy reading!
