Leaving behind a failed career as a magazine editor and an embarrassing stint on a reality baking show, newly divorced lifestyle entrepreneur Hope Early thought things were finally on the upswing—until she comes face-to-face with a murderer . . .
Hope’s schedule is already jam packed with recipe testing and shameless plugs for her food blog as she rushes off to attend a spring garden tour in the charming town of Jefferson, Connecticut. Unfortunately, it isn’t the perfectly arranged potted plants that grab her attention—it’s the bloody body of reviled real estate agent Peaches McCoy . . .
One of the tour guests committed murder, and all eyes are on Hope’s older sister, Claire Dixon—who, at best, saw Peaches as a professional rival. And suspicions really heat up when another murder occurs the following night. Now, with two messy murders shaking Jefferson and all evidence pointing to Claire, Hope must set aside her burgeoning brand to prove her sister’s innocence. But the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she gets to a killer intent on making sure her life goes permanently out of style . . .
Includes Recipes from Hope’s Kitchen!

What if it was all real? IMMORTAL WRITERS by Jill Bowers

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Image result for what if

Today, we're shining the spotlight on a title that released a year or so back, but introduces the sequel that's just about to hit bookstore and virtual shelves next month.  Talk about PERFECT TIMING, am I right?  ^-^'s a work of Young Adult Fantasy via Blue Moon Publishers that came to my attention thanks to the DigiWriting Book Marketing Agency (thanks Talia!), and can I just say I am SO GLAD that it did!  It's a book for writers and readers alike that answers the question of WHAT IF...  so, if you're ready for some extreme adventuring, LET'S DO THIS!  Today's title in the spotlight is...

Immortal Writers
Immortal Writers series, Book 1
Jill Bowers

About the book...
Young up-and-coming author Liz McKinnen has no idea that her life is about to change forever when she comes home from her first book tour. When she's kidnapped and told by her captors that she has to kill her fantasy book's antagonist, she thinks that she's fallen into the hands of crazy, dangerous fans... until her antagonist sends a real, fire-breathing dragon after her.

Liz is quickly initiated into the Immortal Writers, a group of authors from throughout time whose words have given them eternal life, and whose prose is so powerful that it's brought stories over from the Imagination Field into the Reality Field. As Liz meets authors such as William Shakespeare, JRR Tolkien, Edgar Allan Poe, and Jane Austen, she has to learn how to control magic, fight dragons, and face her own troubled past before her power-hungry villain takes over the world. Will she survive the ultimate battle against the dragon lord whom she created?

First reaction....

"...This. Is. So. GOOD! Interesting concept, curious story line, cloaked backstory tainting the clarity of their future. ..I'm hooked..."

...and hooked is where I remained...

It's a book that takes you behind the eyes of the author and asks/answers that big WHAT IF....what if the characters written, the stories that "came to you"...CAME TO LIFE?  What if they were merely creations of your fascinating mind, but stories that echoed across worlds that you were able to hone in on, putting pen to paper and immortalizing them for all the world to enjoy?  What if those carefully crafted heroes personifying all the things you wanted in another half was standing right before you?  What if that mother figure you created to help you move on from a history that was less than ideal was actually able to support and care for you?  What if the villain that embodied all the darkness and evil you could imagine really needed to be defeated...and not simply by your hero, but by YOU...

I don't know about you, but seriously...all the what ifs were mind boggling and the extent to which they can (and seemingly WILL) be explored is fascinating.  I was bemused by the beginning, wherein apparently some people...yes, Derek, I'm glaring at you...thought they knew best.  I was shocked by the followup that quickly turned events in a new direction because really....kidnapping?!  What the heck?!  I mean, really....didn't see that one coming...thought the reasons why come to light sooner rather than later.  I got lost in the world created (or is it captured?) by the author wherein the true power of WORDS is revealed.  Can you imagine if your favorite authors, the ones whose work seems to transpose time, place, and page, never truly died?  I mean, wow...then getting to meet many of them...mind blown.  It's a heady thought, but so is what happens when that writer reaches that status because while the mighty pen strokes they took unleashed their potential, it also unleashed the worlds they created...and they still need to be boxed back up, so to speak.  *ahem*  Trust me, you've not read a dragon fight until you've flown and fought with J.R.R. Tolkien and Anne Mccaffrey...or Shakespeare for that matter.

In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed my time between the epages (got it on my wish list to buy in paper edition, STAT!), and am eagerly awaiting my reentry into this world as my read through of book two gets ever closer on my calendar.  If you're a Young Adult Fantasy fan or ever wondered just where all those amazing stories you've read come from, this is a series you want to know.

About the author...

Jill Bowers

Jill Bowers is a technical writer by day and a fantasy author by night. She is one of two composers-in-residence for the Westminster Bell Choirs and has a great love for all music. She used to be the writer and host for the award-winning radio show Olde Tyme Radio on the Aggie Radio Station at USU and has dabbled in stage play writing as well.

Jill enjoys attending Utah's Comic Con and Fantasy Con and has an unhealthy attachment to Netflix. She lives in Utah and has a lovely dachshund that needs to lose weight because she probably doesn't get enough walks and is too cute to not feed. Jill attended Utah State University for their creative writing program, where she actually specialized in creative nonfiction rather than fiction. However, Jill loves delving into different worlds in fantasy and sci-fi novels and is excited to have people enter the worlds she has created.

Special thanks to Talia at DigiWriting Book Marketing Agency and the Blue Moon Publishers team for the ebook copy for review. (THANKS!)  For more information on this title, the series (rumor has it, it will be FIVE BOOKS long...woo hoo!), the author, the publisher, or the marketing team, feel free to click through the links provided above.  This title is available now in "e" and "tree" formats, so be on the lookout for it on a bookstore shelf or virtual retailer of your choosing.  Stay tuned for more from the Immortal Writers world as I've got book two slated for review later this month!

Until next time, remember...if it looks good, READ IT!
