Taste Testing Tuesdays

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays!
Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading

On the menu this week...two books from the YA genre that couldn't be more different than one another and yet they both share an element of danger.  Ready for a taste?  Here it comes....

I looked into his eyes -- they seemed to be on fire, not with anger, but something else. Suddenly our lemonade memory discussion seemed a lot less important.
-- pg 62, Emblem of Eternity, Book 1: Eternal Starling by Angela Corbett (ARC)

Read into that what you may, but rest assured there are some STRONG feelings bouncing around this one.  Enjoying the general story, curious about the history of the characters as that hasn't quite been revealed yet...but there's also an aspect or two of Evie (our leading lady) that I'm not quit buying.  Seeing as how I'm just approaching the mid point of the book....I'm keeping an open mind and enjoying the ride.  Stay tuned...

It was as if the entire cavern was frozen, a nightmare tableau stripped of motion. Or maybe it was just that time slowed down, my horror so profound that one single second of gut-wrenching realization would haunt me for a lifetime.
-- pg 40, Escape from Furnance 2: Solitary by Alexander Gordon Smith (ARC)

A second helping of this fast paced title (totally blaming the slow finish on the fact that I'm reading it to someone else but hey, they're enjoying the heck out of it so that's gotta be bonus points, right?), it seems that Alex isn't the only one trying to get out of this living nightmare....or should that be, "not the only thing"?  So far, as good as the first, can't wait to see where it leads...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Until next time....happy reading!
