In My Shopping Bag (36)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.
Through her guidelines, your post does not actually have to be named the same and thus my post shall be..."In My Shopping Bag".  (just fits with the "foodie" theme a bit better in my humble opinion)
Let's take a peek inside my shopping bag from this past week....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For Review
Halo by Alexandra Adornetto (ARC)
(courtesy of Ksenia at Feiwel and Friends)
This book is scheduled to release the end of August and already it's getting quite the BUZZ...can't wait to start reading!
Dracula in Love by Karen Essex (ARC)
(courtesy of Doubleday ARC and Random House via Shelf-Awareness)
This arrived Wednesday evening ironically enough....couldn't help but read the first few pages.  Sound good!
A Vindication of Love by Cristina Nehring (ARC)
(courtesy of Erica at Harper Perennial)
Hmm...I don't actually think I requested this one, but the first few pages do sound interesting...will give it a go....
With One Eye Open by Polly Frost
(courtesy of the author)
When I was contacted for this one I couldn't help but wonder if the 'Blogoholic' story this is said to include was what brought my site to mind.... *ponders*  Should be a funny read....
Wicked Girls by Stephanie Hemphill
(courtesy of Kim at HarperCollins Children's Books)
Looks good, right? Yep...I concur!
The Chill of Night by James Hayman (ARC)
(courtesy of the author and Pump Up Your Book Promotions)
Really enjoyed his first novel (The Cutting) so this one is a highly anticipated read.  Look for the blog tour coming through soon!
-----------------------------
Won
Obedience by Will Lavender
(via contest from Holly at Bellas Novella)
Ah yes....a mystery and "disturbing connections"...yep, sounds like a keeper.
Alien Invasion & Other Inconveniences by Brian Yansky (ARC)
(via contest from Candlewick Press)
According to the back cover, this one is scheduled to release this October.  Can't wait to see what this one holds...
Why Dogs Are Better Than Cats by Bradley Trevor Greive
(via contest held at Lynne's Book Reviews)
Okay kitty fans...I love the little furballs critters too, but come on...this was the perfect book for a dog lover like me.... *pets cover*
---------------------------------------
Received
The Books of Elsewhere:  The Shadows by Jacqueline West
The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel:  The Necromancer by Michael Scott
(from Nayuleska at Nayu's Reading Corner...who's site just happened to get a makeover, check it out!)
What can I say?  Both of these are eye-catching....looks like an adventure waiting in the wings...
---------------------------------------
Purchased
 I must warn you....the books you are about to see may astound, boggle the mind, or otherwise leave you wanting to run to your local bookstore and obscond a few for yourself.  For this, I can not blame you.  ^_^  However, for inspiring this behaviour, you can not blame me alone...the blame is shared by my local bookstore and their recent sale-to-end-all-sales.  Yes...there were books....these are the ones I couldn't let get away...
Ugly Betty:  The Book by Ann Donahue
Okay so the first picture is the hard case cover and the second is the book that looks like an issue of 'Mode' inside....definitely gonna be fun....
Peter & Max by Bill Willingham
Ranger's Apprentice:  The Burning Bridge (Book 2) by John Flanagan
The Mortal Instruments:  City of Ashes (Book 2) by Cassandra Clare
The first two are hardcovers, the third a paperback.  That second one there?  No jacket on the book and a tiny marker mark on the bottom (it was a sale book) but yes....that IS an autograph you see!  Just might put this in an upcoming giveaway on the site...whatcha think?
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
This particular version is beautifully illustrated so despite the cover jacket not being in perfect shape, this one couldn't be passed up.
Boys, Girls & Other Hazardous Materials by Rosalind Wiseman
High School Musical 3 (DVD)
The Secret Blog of Raisin Rodriguez by Judy Goldschmidt
A booklight
This would be the lighter fun pack assortment...no judging on the DVD (what can I say, I like musicials)...and the booklight will certainly come in handy.
The Morning Show Murders by Al Roker and Dick Lochte
'African Sunrise' CD
Elephant Destiny by Martin Meredith
Magical Housekeeping by Tess Whitehurst
Last but not least a few random books (and CD) that caught my eye...hehe, LOVE book sales.
That's all for this week!  Yes, that's all....what?  **hugs books**
What did you get?  Do tell!
Until next time....happy reading!
