Taste Testing Tuesdays

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!  Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading

On the menu this week...a sweet reminiscent thought...and a potentially creepy echo.  Ready for a taste?  Here it comes!

Whenever I started to dwell on thoughts of my mother I swear I could hear Evie's eternally upbeat voice in my mind, urging me to put the past away and focus on the future with all of its unlimited possibilities.  She'd say, "Yesterday is history, but tomorrow is a mystery!" her blue eyes flashing with spirit.
-- pg 18, Between the Land and the Sea by Derrolyn Anderson
This is book one in a what is at this time a trilogy.  So far, so good!  My experience with mermaid-type books is limited...okay so that was being generous.  Previously the only mermaid book I've read is The Little Mermaid.  Marina (our lead character) has a great voice though....enjoying getting to know her character as she embarks on this stage of her life....from home school to....HIGH SCHOOL.
O-O  Stay tuned....

Alex tugged on his blue track pants, planted a loud one on her forehead, and was gone.  For once, Susan drifted off easily and was still sleeping soundly twenty minutes later, when Alex came home, folded the laundry, and put it all away -- including the pillowcase that had borne the small and curious stain.
-- pg 89, Bedbugs by Ben H. Winters
Creepy title and creepy cover what with the recent headlines ... ~shudders~ ....let's just say that this is NOT one I'll be reading right before bed.  Happy to say though, so far.....the story is flowing nicely.  I'm just at the part where they are deciding whether or not to move into the brownstone with the "too-good-to-be-true" rent.  Yeah, normally if it seems to good to be true....it is.  We'll see where this one takes us....

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR.*

Until next time....happy reading!
