Hi there!

Can you believe it's already JULY?!?!
I know I sure can't.  They say that times passes faster as we age but I don't really feel old enough for the way it's been going by here lately.  Perhaps it's the fact that I've had too much work and not enough play.  Maybe it's that stress is weighing down on me and my escapes between the pages have been shortened or at times even...dare I say...CUT from my day.  (Don't faint...it's okay.)  Whatever it is, 2016 is flying by like a speeding bullet but there's still plenty of it to enjoy, and I intend to recapture what it's been taking from me.  You hear that 2016!  I'm on to your plan!  I shall prevail!  *ahem*  Anywho...

We've gathered here today not to listen to my rant but to CELEBRATE a BOOK BIRTHDAY via Meryl Moss Media Production and Harlequin Books!  That means that a NEW TITLE is ready for you to indulge in this weekend or tonight for that matter, and we're shining the spotlight on it JUST FOR YOU!  Ready Freddy...and non-Freddy's?  Here we go!

About the book...

A New Leash On Love
When June Leavy finds two puppies abandoned outside during a storm, she immediately feels a bond with the adorable animals. Swindled out of her life savings by her no-good ex, she, too, was left with nothing but heartache and struggles of her own. But when she arrives at the local veterinary clinic, June is met by dangerously handsome Dr. Ethan Singh, whose sexy smile threatens to disarm her hard-won emotional strength.
Back in Peach Leaf, Texas, to recover from an ugly breakup, Ethan gently tends to the puppies and their charming caretaker. But as the storm rages, so does the electric attraction between Ethan and June. Is this real, or a cruel phantom of lost love? Stranded alone at the clinic, only one thing is certain: they've got all night to figure it out…

Oh come on, with a title like that knowing that I'm a dog lover to begin with, did you REALLY think I could pass up the chance to feature it in some way on the site?  Yeah...I think not.  ^-^  Besides, it sounds like there's enough love to go around after a few hearts are healed, so what better way to pass a lazy summer afternoon?

Speaking of love, this is a spotlight post with a little something extra.  You see, along with celebrating the release of this title, the author was kind enough to share a little more.  The "more" in this case is a special post about a few lessons learned from the story itself.  See?  You always knew you could learn things from books, factual OR fiction.  Take it away author Amy Woods!

Love Lessons Learned with Author Amy Woods!

June and Ethan certainly go through a series of hurdles on their way to happiness in Puppy Love for the Veterinarian. Like any couple, they each carry individual struggles and past hurts that must be overcome before they can move forward and build a future together. Having spent a great deal of time with these two characters, here’s what I think they would have to say about lessons learned on the road to romance:
  • It takes time, but you can learn to trust again. Giving your heart away after getting burned is one of the hardest things to do in the pursuit of love, but it’s so worth it once you find someone who deserves it.
  • Differences can be a beautiful thing. Cultural, class, background, and more—they are what make the world an interesting place to be alive, and they can add spice to a relationship.
  • Love conquers all. No matter what challenges come your way, love is the most important thing we have as human beings, and its power can withstand almost anything life tosses in your path.

About the author...

Photo of Amy Woods

Although she's wanted to be a writer since learning to read, Amy Woods took the scenic route to her job as an author. She's been a bookkeeper, a high school English teacher, a claims specialist, and a call-center worker, but now that she's tried making up stories for a living, she's never giving it up. She grew up in Austin, Texas, and still lives there with her wonderfully goofy, supportive husband and a very spoiled rescue dog.
