BLOG TOUR: The Wishing World by Todd Fahnestock

Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining a Roger Charlie blog tour featuring a soon to be released title that you won't want to miss.  It finds itself at home in the Children's Fiction/Fantasy genre and when I say that it will have your imagination will running wild, that is NOT an understatement.  The fact that it can provoke readers imaginations is one thing but within the story world itself, that provocation, that POWER, had consequences far beyond what you might at first perceive.  So clear your minds and be prepared, we're going on an adventure!  Today's ebook of choice is...

About the book...
In the Wishing World, dreams are real. You can transform into your own hero, find wild and whimsical friends, and wield power as great as your imagination. But Lorelei doesn't know about any of that. All she knows is that a monster took her family.

It happened during a camping trip one year ago. Hiding inside the tent, she saw shadows, tentacles and a strange creature. By the time she got up the courage to crawl outside, the monster--and Lorelei's mom, dad, and brother--were gone.

Lorelei is determined to find her family. When she accidentally breaks into the Wishing World, she discovers a way. It's a land more wonderful than she could have imagined, a land of talking griffons, water princesses, and cities made of sand, where Lorelei is a Doolivanti--a wish-maker--who can write her dreams into existence.

There's only one problem: the monster is a Doolivanti, too. What he wishes also comes true, and he's determined to shove Lorelei out, keep her family, and make the whole Wishing World his. To save them, Lorelei must find the courage to face him, or her next wish may be her last.

Doolivanti, griffon, eternal seas, Squeak... and the list goes on. This book is neither short on characters, nor imagination, and they work wonders to build a story that you'll long to get lost between the pages of...I know I did, and now that I've emerged, allow me to shed a little light on my journey.

What begins in a rush of memories shared, familial loss felt, and the innocent wishes of one little girl made so strongly that the very rules of the natural world consider bending to her will, grows into a quest unlike any other.  Lorelei is our leading lady and though young in age, she is so much stronger, and wiser than she even knows.  Though her family was taken from her, she never really gave up on them...good thing too because otherwise what happens after her wish of all wishes hits the universe would be unfathomable.  You see, sometimes wishes can come true, but even so, it doesn't mean they were meant to play out the way we expected.  Lorelei wants her family back, but in order to possibly accomplish the impossible, she's going to have to face the darkest darkness of another's heart, while making some tough decisions within her own.  Her choices affect more than just herself and her family, but a whole world of wildly fantastical creatures and creations.  Will she be strong enough to preserve this world of imaginations gone wild while still answering her heart's desire?  Wouldn't you like to know...  *smirk*

Oh come on, you knew I wasn't going to spoil it for you and seriously, I couldn't forgive myself if I did!  The cast of characters is vast and wonderful.  The connections they have to each other and to Lorelei are unexpected, yet work beautifully.  I must say, a favorite character of mine was most definitely Squeak.  Yes, he is a mouse.  No, we can't understand him, though others can, but that doesn't make his observations, opinions, and direction any less important (or spot on!)...plus there is a reason for that lack of understanding that we come to understand later on along with Lorelei.  Speaking out her, I gotta say, she was a gem herself!  I was at first confused by her shedding of the "Loremaster" name and image when she came to The Wishing World but gradually, it all made sense.  Just one of many mysteries that reveal themselves by book's end...and what an end it is!  Satisfying and yet room to grow; I wonder...

In conclusion, it was one fascinating rush of a read! Filled with all the magical characters you can stand, and capturing so much within its words while leaving mountains still left to explore, this is one read that you'll definitely want to explore on more than one occasion.  It works as a standalone but most readers will still be clamoring for more... *joins the hordes*

Recommended read for Children's Fiction fans of all ages.  All you need is an interest, and a heaping dose of imagination, and you'll be sailing through the "e" or "tree" pages faster than you can riddle through a Flimflam's poetic nonsense.
