STORYBOOK SUNDAY: Father's Day the bookish way!

HI guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

We're celebrating another day of bookish fun with Storybook Sunday! For those not up to speed on the post, I read a lot of great storybooks and thought, why not give them their own day in the sun. Hence, Storybook Sunday! Feel free to join the fun and create a post on your own site with the same name. I'd love to see any linked up in the comments! Anywho...back to the matter at hand.

Today, we've got a triple feature to prepare you for the upcoming holiday.  What holiday is that?  Why...Father's Day!  Yes siree, we're merely a week away, but there's still time to snap up some choice picks for dear old dad, and whether he prefers the great outdoors or the world of super heroes, we've got something just for you...I mean, him.  Ready or not, here come the titles of the day...

If Goodnight, Moon is too mundane, take a trip to dreamland hand in hand with Groot and Rocket in this super hero and villain drenched storybook like no other.  Here's little Groot, being tucked in for the night, and just as he's about to drift off, Rocket comes to...save the day?  Umm, about that...he wants his little friend to stay awake because there are OH SO MANY MORE ADVENTURES to be had, but by book's end, even the most adventurous kiddos will be tuckered out and ready for a good night's sleep.  It ups the cool factor with its wide range of characters, so that both uber fans and lightweights alike have the chance to encounter their favorite supers from this galaxy and the surrounding, so the next time Dad tries to pass on the story times duties, he just might think twice.  ^-^

This is the story of a pig...I mean, a cow...I mean, a hen...I mean, a horse...I mean, EGADS!  Does no one understand the concept of sleeping in their own bed?  *ahem*  As I was saying, this is the story of barnyard animals trying to tuck in for the night, only to find their bed taken by a farmyard version of Goldilocks...again and again and again.  The hilarity that ensues will keep little ones in stitches, but not so much so that when all is said and done, bedtime will be a distant destination in the future, but a here and now event.  With adorable illustrations to guide little ones from bed to bed to bed, not only will they catch the whimsy of it all, but the hint that perhaps the best place to lay their heads is in their own beds.

In this charming tale of a fisherman at sea, we discover one is never truly alone in this world, and there is no better place to point our compass than home.  Through his act of kindness in helping a young bird regain his wings, the bond they form reminds him of those things he had temporarily forgotten, but sorely misses.  It's robust enough for Dad's to read to their kiddos without getting all mushy, yet with enough heart to move the toughest of the tough.
