RRR presents... CRAB, DAB, AND BLENNY by Peta Rainford - REVIEW!

 Hi there!

Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're making some waves with Rachel's Random Resources as we shine the review spotlight on an eco focused Picture Book that will remind readers how important it truly is to keep our oceans clean.  Ready or not, fair readers, our ebook of choice is just swimming into view...

Crab, Dab & Blenny

by

Peta Rainford

About the book...

Crab, Dab & Blenny is a fun, rhyming picture book about the serious theme of plastics in the ocean.

Fish friends Dab and Blenny are upset by the plastic that washes into their lovely rockpool home. Crab, on the other hand, just LOVES the shiny bright colour… But when Blenny gets caught in plastic twine, Crab finally understands the danger of plastics in the ocean.

Crab, Dab & Blenny is a book that celebrates friendship and the vast variety of life that exists in a quiet rockpool. Perfect for early readers or as a bedtime story for four- to eight-year-olds.

Think Nemo, but instead of aquarium hungry collectors, you've got an invasion of pollution that will create its own collection in time.

Crab, Dab, and Blenny are best friends. They swim together, fish together, and encounter the new items drifting into their environment together... but they're reactions couldn't be any more different. Dab doesn't like it. Blenny keeps quiet so as not to offend. Crab is... overjoyed by all the shiny things, his new "home", and their continued appearance. At first, it seems harmless, until one day one of these friends gets caught in a bind that can't be solved... and the true nature of what's happening begins to be seen. Luckily, they aren't alone... and lucky for us, neither are we.

It's a great and timely message of conservation, drawing awareness to our oceans, and the simple ways we can help make it better. You'll rethink leaving behind anything on your day at the beach. You'll stop to grab that litter you might have bypassed in lieu of it potentially hurting a fish friend. You might even join others in support of environmental causes to make your help go that much further when teamed up with others of the same mindset. It's never too early to get a start on this, but it can eventually be too late.

In the end, this was a colorfully illustrated, cleverly rhyming edutainment story with a message that will resonate with all ages, while still bringing a smile to your face.
