He's hiding a MAJOR secret. She's hiding a broken heart. Circumstances put them in each other's path, for better or worse...and speaking of that particular sentiment...

You gotta love a big burly man that knows how to use his size to his advantage...and no, that's not as dirty as it might have sounded. What I mean is at Alewyn was IMPRESSIVE, but his size was only shadowed by that of his heart. There is no doubt he could intimidate, but he could also take care of others, show kindness, and lend a helping hand. Even when his memory HAD deserted him, he didn't just charge in making demands. He waited, took notice of his surroundings and those that interacted with him, and drew his conclusions from an educated point of view. His smile could melt the hardest of hearts...and did peck away at the wall around our lady's, but he had a much bigger challenge than that ahead of him. Despite whatever feelings he might have had, his first loyalty was to king and kingdom. He had to see to rights his mission, and if she ended up on the wrong side of it, her future would still have been forfeit. Still...he didn't go in with sword drawn and accusations. He gained an insider look, followed his gut instincts, and...well, let's just sat that he definitely came out as a knight in SHINING armor.

I loved the push and pull between Al and Lady Johanne. She was true to herself, and good for the kingdom, with a kind heart (enough to save a stranger on the road!) and an outer strength to carry her people, but her past was shaping her future and she needed someone like him to pull her out of it. Even if their connection was never realized, the side it awakened in her, the knowledge she gleaned from him was more than worth it in the end. Still...can't say I wasn't thrilled with the outcome, and even that of the long game. *sigh* Suffice it to say, readers won't be disappointed or left without that much loved HEA. Another grand adventure through the past with danger at many turns, but also the chance at a love that could last the ages.

About the author....

Ella Matthews lives and works in beautiful South Wales. When not thinking about handsome heroes she can be found walking along the coast with her husband and their two children (probably still thinking about heroes but at least pretending to be interested in everyone else).
