Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays!
Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
On the menu this week ... a YA favorite series that I am currently reading my way through, and a biography of what happens when muscle wins over mind.
Let's have a taste, shall we?
Let's have a taste, shall we?
Her hand drifted to the top of her spine, where her not-yet-complete tattoo was. It suddenly throbbed like a drumbeat caught under her skin.
He smiled at her as if he could hear that illusory beat.
-- pg 114, Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr (book 2 in the Wicked Lovely series)
Usually, guys in the game have murdered-out SUVs or sports cars, but these guys were wearing tucked-in shirts and designer jeans and drove a family sedan. It certainly didn't bother me any; it wasn't often that I got to do a deal with guys whom I didn't feel were ready to put a bullet in my chest.--pg 102-103, Death, Drugs, and Muscle: Surviving the Steroid Underworld by Gregg Valentino and Nathan Jendrick (ARC)

Happy reading!
"Other married couples were not as lucky as we. If the man turned and jumped with the best but was short, had over developed thighs, and a perky, Peter Pan personality, he would probably never dance with his tall, leggy, and more regal wife."
ReplyDeleteBallet to the Corps, a memoir by Marie Paquet-Nesson (nonfiction)
(How coincidental this passage, following your open-and-point instructions, after YOUR blurbs?
The1stdaughter: Thanks for the support! Definitely enjoying this self-made challenge. Regarding the other book...LOL. You can blame my mom for that one. There was a TLC or Discovery (one of those stations) show about the "man with the exploding arms" (sorry the exact title is escaping me)....this is that guy. There is quite a bit more story than what was shown on tv, so although it's a bit outside my normal fair, it is rather interesting. ^_^
ReplyDeleteCharlene Ann Baumbich: LOL. That's a rather interesting teaser if I do say so myself. Thanks for sharing...and happy reading!
You are certainly reading an interesting variety of books.
ReplyDeleteMy teaser is here at Inside of a Dog.
Great teasers this week! The cover of the second book kind of scared me... haha! Here's my teaser.
ReplyDeleteThe first book seems pretty interesting. I hope you are enjoying it. The second book sure has an interesting cover! WOW! :) Enjoy them and thanks for visiting my TT!
ReplyDeleteKathy Martin: Why yes...my tastes in reading vary as greatly as the colors in a field of flowers. That is to say...VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE. ^_^
ReplyDeleteEmidy: LOL. Some parts of the book are scary, but alas, it is real life. Thanks for sharing your teaser!
Christina/Book Addict: LOL, yes...it's getting a lot of attention as I'm sure it was intended to. ^_^
Ink exchange does it for me :)
ReplyDeleteOk, here's mine: Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev (US has different title). pg. 113
About the time he threatened her nose with his finger, Peaseblossom lost her grip on the situation with the boys. The door crashed open, and three irate fairies launched themselves at the Stage Manager. Cobweb and Moth pelted him with sequins while Mustardseed rammed baeds into his ears.
Nayuleska: Yep...it was a great read! Oh...and I love your share from EYES LIKE STARS. That was a GREAT book! Looking forward to the sequel... ^_^
