Taste Testing Tuesdays (41)

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!  Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
On the menu this week ... one book that I simply can't stop reading (true story or not, it is so funny and cute...and it stops by next month on it's "birthday" blog tour) plus another that I am enjoying far more than anticipated.  Both of these should be "devoured" in full today or tomorrow.
Let's have a taste, shall we?

Just as I launched into a spiel about how much Rob adored the kitten, Cleo dived into Steve's bag and emerged with the toe of a black sock between her teeth.  Scurrying away, she tossed it above her head and jumped in the air. -- pg 68, Cleo:  The Cat Who Mended a Family by Helen Brown (ARC)

Beyond the cuteness of the cover (aw...such a cutie wittle kitty), the story is heart breaking and uplifting all at the same time.  Really enjoying this one...

From a long distance a traveler, or some wild thing, might see within the deep and absolute blackness of night an intense orange light which looked from afar like a glowing coal.  If that observer were curious (or hungry, as was often the case), and had the courage to seek a nearer vantage point, he would see a youthful figure seated on a rock staring into a blazing bonfire.  -- pg 3, Zan-Gah:  A Prehistoric Adventure by Allan Richard Shickman

Though I could do without a scene or two and the cover is not exactly something that would catch my eye, I'm enjoying this one far more than I would have thought.  Really hoping things pan out for Zan-Gah.....

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR.*

Until next time....happy reading!

I'm glad Zan-Gah is good. I interviewed the author, actually!

  6. Julie P: Definitely recommend the first ZAN-GAH book at least (haven't read the second yet)...despite the cover (sorry, not in love with it), the story is pretty good! LOL on your own personal Cleo...wonder if her personality is anything similar. ^_^
