In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.
Through her guidelines, your post does not actually have to be named the same and thus my post shall be..."In My Shopping Bag". (just fits with the "foodie" theme a bit better in my humble opinion)
Normally seen on a Monday here at my site, today it moves to Sunday...what can I say? So many books, so little time, and they each deserve their day so I try to keep the week free and clear.
But enough of that now...let's take a peek inside my shopping bag from this past week....

Review
Museum of Thieves by Lian Tanner
(ARC courtesy of Delacorte Press / RandomHouse)
Yay! This looks like a great adventure....can't wait to read about the shifting rooms and just what sinister plot the kids have to defeat. Keep an eye out for this one as it's set to hit shelves 09/28/10!
Oogy by Larry Levin
(review copy courtesy of Hachette Book Group)
Have I ever mentioned how fab the folks at this publisher are? So many great opportunities to read and review titles in a wide range of interests...including this one! I think little Oogy there is so cute...it's heart breaking what happened to him initially, but so much love given and received in spite of it all. Can't wait to start reading it. Oh, and it's set to release this October..in case you were wondering...
City in Shadow by Evan Marshall
(review copy courtesy of Julie at FSB Associates)
Ooh..look! It's another mystery! No, I haven't become an addict yet, but this one sounds good and spooky for one of my October posts....BOO!
The Wand Bearer Trilogy, Part 1: Juggler in the Wind by Wim Coleman and Pat Perrin
(review copy courtesy of Susan at The Cadence Group)
Title is intriguing and the story sounds promising....but it may be a bit before you see it on the site due to the October posts. Rest assured, come November, you can read all about it.
Dragonbreath: Curse of the Were-Wiener by Ursula Vernon
(courtesy of Books 4 Boys / Penguin Group)
Okay for starters...no, I'm not a boy. I was one of the first 100 people to request an ARC copy of this funtastic title after seeing a random tweet from Penguin. It intrigued be on so many levels. First, I have the first book in this fun series. Second, the site is dedicated to highlighting bookish fun for male readers...something that is often pondered by both them as well as the adults in their lives. So I say to you...ONLY for boys? I think not....BUT, definitely something that may spark their reading interest. Can't wait to dive into this....
The Essential Guide to Getting Your Book Published by Arielle Eckstut and David Henry Sterry
(courtesy of Workman Publishing)
So, um...I didn't actually request this one, they kind of just sent it. Of course, I appreciate it but since I'm not currently an aspiring author, I can't say that it will have a lot of practical application for myself. Perhaps for you though, my readers....I know a lot of you are authors-in-waiting...we'll see what happens with this one....
To Fetch a Thief by Spencer Quinn
(courtesy of the Atria Galley Alley Program)
An unexpected surprise as I think I put in a request for this some times ago, but hey....YAY books! Anther mystery with a dog/human team...can't wait. ^_^

Won
Elliot and the Goblin War by Jennifer Nielsen
(courtesy of the author herself)
So...um, yeah...let's just say the book didn't quite make it to me and despite the USPS's "sincere apologies", they are not in my good graces right now. That being said, still be on the lookout for this new title/author because the book sounds like a lot of fun.

That's all for this week!
What did YOU get?
Do tell!
Until next time....happy reading!
wow I can't believe you didn't get your book. I always worry about the mail people taking my packages for themselves. The package does look really torn up though. They really should take more care of packages.
ReplyDeleteBummer about not getting your book. :( Sorry to hear that. I hope you enjoy all your other books and I look forward to your reviews!
ReplyDeletemuseum of theives looks soo good! i hadn't heard of it before :) enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove the empty package! I got a letter one time, years ago (pre-dating email). It was a regular letter, but I received it in a plastic baggie and a big chunk of the envelope's (and letter's!) upper corner was missing. It looked like a small poodle had taken a bite out of it. It came with sincere apologies as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteMalbebe: Yeah, I was shocked. Of all the things sent, this ends up NOT arriving. *shakes head*
ReplyDeleteChristina: Yeah, you news though...the fab author is sending me another copy! (YAY!) ^_^ Yes, can't wait to get started on the others too...
Carrie: Agreed and thanks!
John Herrick: LOL! A small poodle, really? Yeah, this one looked sorta like Freddy had gotten a hold of it (perhaps more realistically they tried to run it through a scanner and it snagged...but I'm sticking with the Freddy explanation). ^_^
Oooo I want to know more about 1
ReplyDeleteOh! I got Museum of Thieves as well! I can't wait to read it, sounds so good.
ReplyDeleteOn a USPS note...I hate them! One summer I shipped my books back home after an internship across country. Well, needless to say I never saw the entire box again. It was awful! I lost nearly 20 books and a couple of journals. I was so ticked! SO, definitely feeling you on the lost book, it stinks! :o(
Great books otherwise though!
