The Boy Who Cried Ninja by Alex Latimer

Hi there readers!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers...the place to get your daily serving of bookish goodness to help satisfy the reader in you.

While today is mailbox day for many sites, I'm out and about right now (work...yay me! *-*) so that wish list inducing post will be coming tomorrow (seriously....you don't want to miss it)...but I'm not one to leave you without something new to check out for too long, hence today's post.  The featured title today came to my attention a little earlier this year and when I saw the cover the other day I thought...self, that would be GREAT for an October feature...especially since a few ninjas may be appearing here in a few days with Halloween fast approaching. Ready...set...go! Today's book of choice is...

THE BOY WHO CRIED NINJA
by
Alex Latimer

I've got to say it...the cover though simple lends a bit of mystery to the story within. Really! I mean one can't help but see the resemblance between young Tim and the little ninja....but looks can be deceiving and certainly prove to be here.

From cake eating ninjas to backpack eating squids, Tim spins tale after fantastical tale to explain many a thing that's transpired.  His parents? Well of course they don't believe him, how could they? Would you? Should you? Now THAT'S the real question.  I wont spoil it for you but lets just say that Tim is one resourceful little dude and put his "think about what you've done" time to very good use.

In summary, a wonderfully cute story about how the truth can really be stranger than fiction....and a child's imagination while unlimited does not always run away with itself. There's always a grain a truth at the very least within any fantastical story....it's finding it that can be the challenge. Once uncovered though, does the tale become less mesmerizing? Not really....but it can show you what was really behind its creation in the first place leading you to a greater understanding, a deeper connection that will serve you throughout your own life story.

Recommended reading for all ages...from the little daydreamer to the adult with a penchant for enchantment, it can be enjoyed by any and all.  Special thanks to Peachtree Publishers for the review copy.
