BLOG TOUR: The Pack by LM Preston - Cover Reveal + CONTEST!

Hi guys!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers…the place that has turned into Grand Central BOOK Station this week for tours but is enjoying every minute of it.

Today, we have another blog tour guest, author LM Preston…but this time there’s no guest post or review to speak of (I know, I know…it’ll be okay, tomorrow’s another day….), simply a chance to enchant, mesmerize and entice you to check out an EXCITING YA lit series you may have missed!  (Oh, and did I mention there’s a contest?  Silly me…there is!  Keep reading…)

Original cover

Book 1 was released a few years back and I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing it right here on the site.  It was an adventure to say the least featuring a unique heroine for our time….a kick-butt teen female who just so happens to be blind; oh and possess a power internally that could either plow through all the bad guys or destroy HER.  Cool stuff, right?  You don’t even know the half of it.  Why are we revisiting this book if you’ve already reviewed it?  Good question!  You see, the celebration for book 2’s release is about to commence NEXT MONTH (of which I’ve already partaken and can’t wait to share my thoughts with you) and with it a makeover was overdue for the first installment, cover wise.

That’s right!  Book 2 went in a different direction with the cover and so it was determined that they should be made a matched set.  Ready to check it out?  Here it comes.  The NEW cover….along with the book synopsis….

Shamira is considered an outcast by most, but little do they know that she is on a mission. Kids on Mars are disappearing, but Shamira decides to use the criminals most unlikely weapons against them the very kids of which they have captured. In order to succeed, she is forced to trust another, something she is afraid to do. However, Valens, her connection to the underworld of her enemy, proves to be a useful ally. Time is slipping, and so is her control on the power that resides within her. But in order to save her brother's life, she is willing to risk it all.

So, what do you think?
Like it?  Love it?  Indifferent?
I’m all ears….as for me, I'm a fan; though I do wish her eye color was reflected...they're suppose to be really light blue if I remember correctly.  Anywho, while you’re puzzling your puzzler on that answer, here’s an excerpt from book 1 because you know, the author and I are just cool like that…. (^_^)….plus it will wet your whistle for the contest that you KNOW you want to enter.

----------------------------------------

“Hmm… I guess the handicap girl can’t find her way. Want some help? Need a seeing eye dog?” Kim asked loudly and with a sarcastic inflection in her voice. She spoke to her like she was born deaf.

“I can hear just fine, Kim. How about you?” Shamira replied loudly like Kim. She couldn’t help herself. Playing weak was getting harder and harder the stronger the power grew inside of her.

The energy around her changed again when Kim and her other two friends pushed her between them. Shamira stood in the middle of the circle and tried to appear off balance. Although, when Kim spat on her, the dam of her control broke, and Shamira decided she would play the invalid no more. She punched Kim lightly on the chin and then back-kicked her taller friend Megan in the chest. Megan fell to the ground.

Shamira barely held her anger at bay while she remembered all the times she had allowed them to beat her up just so she could keep her secret abilities hidden. She held Kim firmly by the neck, careful not to choke her. Figuring she would be gentle with Kim, unlike Kim was with her. She felt the air shift when Kim’s friend Shannon tried to run away. Shamira threw all pretense of gentleness away and slammed Kim down with the hand that she held firmly to Kim’s neck in order to quickly pull at Shannon’s flapping braid.

Hiyah!
Take that little miss nasty…humphf.
