Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers! Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
On the menu this week...a book geared towards young adults offering sage advice from their future selves. It's non-fiction with a time travel-ish twist and its making it's way to a blog near you very soon! Ready for a taste? Here goes...
Dear Teen Me: Authors Write Letters to Their Teen Selves
edited by
E. Kristin Anderson and Miranda Kenneally
What I wish you could understand, teen me, is that the past does create the future. Everything that sets you apart also makes you unique. You are finding a distinctive voice, and one day that voice will speak not only to many, but also for many who can't speak for themselves.-- pg 83
This excerpt came from a letter author Ellen Hopkins submitted to the project for her "teen me". With the turn of every page you connect with another author, another SOMEONE who has been-there-done-that and is now sharing the wisdom they've gleaned about the passing (or not) of hard times, the surprise arrival of good times and everything in-between. It's a deeply personal voyage and yet we can all connect with them on some level. I'm only in the starting pages of this book but I can already tell it's gonna be one to remember. Stay tuned for the blog tour coming through next week from Zest Books and in the mean time, feel free to check out the blog that inspired it all...

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Until next time....happy reading!
What an interesting idea. Now you have me wondering what my teen self would write to me.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting and I immediately began to ponder what I would tell teen me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Would probably be best to take this in small doses, but would love to see what some of my favorite authors wish they could pass on to their teen selves!
ReplyDeleteO that's wonderful! Makes me wish I could put it in a time capsule and send it back to 15 year old me. :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a fascinating book! I don't know what I'd tell my high school self... Maybe, it gets better?
ReplyDeleteOh boy is that teaser ever true. :) Hope you are enjoying this one.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read this one because it sounds so interesting. Although I am an adult- it seems like a book that will be filled with life lessons and humor. A great gift for teens. :)

Petty Witter: So...give it a try!
ReplyDeletekimbacaffeinate: Seems the general consensus... ^_^
Alexia561: Agreed...not a read front to back in a sitting kinda book, but inspiring nonetheless!
Juju: I know, right? *hugs*
Melanie: It's a start and sometimes the only thing they need to hear.
Melissa: I did...really and truly.
DMS: Yes it was but teen or adult, I think it works both ways. For the one, it gives hope; the other, time to reflect.
