Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers! Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
This post is usually seen on a Tuesday, hence the name, but let's blame this week's delay on the holiday, shall we? ^_^
On the menu this week...one book that I'm literally just finishing (but had to share), another I added in as it belongs to a series read I'm embarking on and a third (if you can believe it) that I'm just cracking the spine on (okay, no spines were cracked but I did begin reading it). Ready for a triple scoop of tasty bookish teasers? Your request has been granted!

But Charlotte would be a perfect Juliet. I read the play and watched the movie freshman year, but honestly, all I remember about it is that Romeo and Juliet both die, but before that, I'm pretty sure they do it.-- pg 58, The Downside of Being Charlie by Jenny Torres Sanchez (ARC)
Well now that's probably what A LOT of adolescent males remember about the play the first time around...LOL. Though this quote makes this story seem like the typical YA read, it has a lot more depth and shadow to it than meets the eye. Review coming soon....
Johnny wasn't the kind of guy I flirted with. Remembering how we'd talked on the phone, embarrassment clenched my stomach. I forced my attention to neutral space -- the floor -- catching details of his jacket and black T-shirt beneath, the leather pants he wore. Where did guys over six feet find leather pants?-- pg 78, Vicious Circle by Linda Robertson
Definitely outside of my usual reading box but so far...so good! Persephone's character has a lot of fight, as does her equally feisty Nana (LOL!)...can't wait to see just where this story leads. First book in a six book series (the sixth of which publishes in January). Stay tuned for more!
Upon departing college, Danny secured his first job at a lending firm in downtown Cleveland, a salaried position in the home mortgage division on the ninth floor of the office tower, where he spent many evenings working unpaid overtime. During his lunch hour, when the mild summer weather appeared, he would purchase a meatball sandwich and sit in front of Lake Erie a few blocks away.-- pg 52, The Landing by John Herrick
My last reading adventure with this author was memorable and while the scene depicted here isn't "exciting" per se, it is peaceful...serene even; the sheer fact that a quiet moment can be found in an otherwise crazy busy day is enchanting all on its own!

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Until next time....happy reading!
This is a good idea... I'm going to try it :) But I'm reading a bunch of non fiction books at the moment so I'll wait until have some fiction of the go!
ReplyDeleteGreat teasers, I so need to read Vicious Circle ..... and not just to find out where six footers get leather trousers.
ReplyDeleteCory: Cool! Love to see what you come up with...
ReplyDeletePetty Witter: LOL! ^_^
Ha! That first one made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious where six foot tall hunks can find leather trousers! Great teasers!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yes, do they make leather pants that long. :D I do want to read that series.
ReplyDeleteAnd the first one was cute. Yeah, don't remember much of that play either. ;)
Thank you!
