Nick & Tesla's Secret Agent Battle by "Science Bob" Pflugfelder & Steve Hockensmith

Hi there!
Welcome back to the site that aims to bring the joys of reading to the populous at large….Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.  Okay, so our fan base isn’t in the stratosphere at this point, but one can dream, right?  ^_^

Today, we’re jumping back into the tepid waters of Children’s Fiction with a starting depth of Middle Grade.  It’s the third installment in a series from Quirk Books that blends science with story in such a way that both readers AND inventors will be enraptured.  Don’t believe me?  Well, you could always check out my reviews of book 1 and 2 right here on the site for a sneak peek but them again….though the titles play well together, they most certainly can be read as stand alones.  You’ll just miss out on watching Uncle Newt strap into his dining place…on the ceiling.  You won’t know a thing about Agent McIntyre.  The robot army reference will be lost on you.  You know, just the small things.  (^_^)  Anywho, ready to read all about it?  Today’s book of choice is….

About the book…
After foiling a gang of kidnappers and fending off an army of robots, 11-year-old siblings Nick and Tesla Holt could use a little rest!  But as their third mystery opens, they discover there’s a spy in their midst, searching for secrets in the home of their beloved (and slightly crazy) Uncle Newt.  Is it the new laboratory assistant?  The exterminator?  The housekeepers?  Or someone completely unexpected?  To expose the mystery agent, Nick and Tesla must engineer all kinds of outrageous contraptions…

Talk about pruning the future CSI, FBI, and forensic scientists of America!  This installment has it all.  Learn how to make your very own Fingerprint-Finder Powder and Evildoer Identification System with simple items found around most households.  Build your own handy dandy Ring-A-Ding-Ding Spy Exposure System.  Set up your own Spy-Busting Invisicam to catch the culprit in the process.  Even invent your own alphabet code to pass secret messages to your friends and trusted allies.  Yes, there is everything you need for the budding spy or spy-buster in your neck of the woods…oh and did I mention there’s a story too?  *smile*

Yes, yes…there IS a story in there as well and this time it takes us on the hunt to uncover a spy IN our midst!  But figuring out who is who exactly is a bit of a stretch with the appearance of a slew of new characters…good thing we have the fabulous Holt twins to help us out!  With their trusty friends Silas and Demarco by their side, Nick and Tesla set out to unveil the crafty creepsters HOPEFULLY before it’s too late!  How so?  Well, whomever it is as already absconded with one of their silver star necklaces and we all know what THAT means…  *raises eyebrow*  (Well, you DO if you’ve read the other books anyway….but trust me, it’s not a good thing in the least!)  Plans are made, traps are set, and multiple showers are taken but before the turn of the final page, the culprit WILL BE out-ed…one way or another.  It’s the other that should intrigue you because really, it’s a TOTAL surprise!

In conclusion, my thoughts can be summarized with three words…
