About the book...
Moving on doesn’t always have to mean goodbye.
Widowed makeup artist Jane Sullivan is more comfortable keeping her husband’s memory alive than dating a pool full of sharks. Ella, her 4 year-old daughter, is her whole world.
When Jane meets Lucas Oliver, famous cover model, it’s hate at first sight. His playboy persona rubs her the wrong way.
Accustomed to every woman fawning over him, Lucas is drawn to the shy, uncompromising single mom and completely melts at the sight of Ella. He is determined to convince Jane that sometimes a second chance can mend a broken heart.

I gotta say it each and every time. If you know what I'm about to divulge and are tired of hearing...I mean reading it, cover your eyes a second. Are they covered? No peeking.
I'm not a big lover of ebooks.
Okay. It's safe to uncover your eyes again.
It's true. What can I say. I love the experience of reading a flesh and blood, I mean paper and glue version THAT much more than an e-version and yet sometimes, I'm drawn in to the point that I'll read it anyway. Case in point here and the end result was WONDERFUL!
I loved our leading lady. She took no prisoners nor crap-ioca from Mr. I'm-too-sexy-for-my-shirt (or manners for that matter)...aka Lucas. They are opposites through and through and yet...something just under the surface keeps them from permanently ending their acquaintance. Now grant it, one could call it "work" as they both seem to be at the beck and call of one uber popular star who demands the best and only the best, in the nicest way possible of course (*ahem*). On the other hand, or perhaps for those with more romantic souls, you could call it serendipity....at least in the results category. *wink wink* Speaking of our wanna-be-leading man, Lucas is much more than he seems and despite his macho bravado, disarming good looks, and devil may care attitude, the heart of a true knight in shining armor beats within. I'm not saying it is easy to see or even totally uncovered considering all that goes on, but trust me when I say, if you dig a little deeper here, you'll score more than simply another level of shallowness.
Taking the story as a whole, I really enjoyed the direction the author chose to follow. Placing Lucas in Jane's path both on the job and in happenstance situations allowed for their interactions to be snarky and playful but with hidden depth that readers were privy to. You could see where they were coming from but also where things might go if only they'd both let them. More often than not, this type of story follows the usual pattern....girl meets boys, despises boy, boy chases girl, they end up happily ever after; not so much in this story, or at the very least not as direct a route giving the tale more heft and readers that much more to enjoy.
Recommended read for adult Contemporary Romance, Chick Lit, and Women's Fiction fans; adult audience chosen simply for some topics and scenes of sensuality (think steam without the flames...in a great way!).

About the author...
(Camelia Miron Skiba)
I WRITE. I LIVE. I LOVE. I DREAM. I WRITE.
I’m a dreamer
I’m a sinner
I love my books
I conjure hooks
And heroes with good looks
Romance is my guilty pleasure
Taking me to places with new decor
Come join me if you dare
I promise not to bore
If you like to read my stories
Pray my husband continues snorin’
For he’s the one who keeps me up at night
When I give my heroes wings and flight.

And heroes with good looks

Taking me to places with new decor
Come join me if you dare

Dear Gina,
ReplyDeleteGirl, you just nailed it. Your review of Me Tarzan--You Jane is exactly what reaction I want from readers. For some is not clean enough, for others is not steamy enough. But you so totally saw within those pages what I was going for while writing the story.
For that and for hosting my tour on your blog I'm so so grateful! Lucas, Jane and Ella are sending you tons of sun and smiles :)
Thank you so much! ^-^
