BLOG TOUR: Poppy Mayberry, The Monday by Jennie K. Brown - SPOTLIGHT + INTERVIEW!

Hi gang!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're playing host to a Chapter by Chapter Blog Tour starring the first book in a planned Children's Fiction series that'll have you wishing you were a Monday or Friday for more than just the obvious reasons.  You see, in her story, those born on those days, as well as the other outside and in-between, have special POWERS...and from the sound of things they sound like a blast!  But what if you feel you were born the wrong day?  Is there any hope to change your fate or are you doomed to suffer through the growing pains until infinity?  Only one way to find out.  Let's take a peek at today's featured title...

About the book...
What if your teacher could read your mind just because she was born on a Thursday? Or the kid next to you in class could turn back the clock just because he was a ‘Wednesday”? In the quirky town of Nova, all of this is normal, but one thing is not—Poppy Mayberry. As an almost-eleven-year-old Monday, she should be able to pass notes in class or brush her dog, Pickle, without lifting a finger. But her Monday telekinesis still has some kinks, and that plate of spaghetti she’s passing may just end up on someone’s head. And if that’s not hard enough, practically perfect Ellie Preston is out to get her, and Principal Wible wants to send her to remedial summer school to work on her powers! It’s enough to make a girl want to disappear…if only she were a Friday.

Sounds like fun, no?
Well, I thought it did, though I'm still not certain what day of the week I would want to be.  I did, however, want to know a little more from the mind behind the work, so I thought...why not ask?  Thus I give you, today's author guest...Jennie K. Brown!

INTERVIEW:  AUTHOR JENNIFER K. BROWN

1) What inspired you to become a writer?

Image result for writerWhat inspires me most is reading other author’s works. There are so many awesome books out there that inspire me to write even more and better.

2)  Of all the genres in the bookish world, you landed in Children's Fiction.  By chance or by choice?  Care to elaborate?

Totally by choice. I am an English teacher, so I work with young adults on an almost daily basis. So I guess writing for that age group just comes naturally.

3)  The townspeople of Nova all have special powers of some sort based on the day they were born.  If YOU could have a special power, what would it be and why?

I would definitely have Tuesday’s teleportation power. I just like the idea of being one place in one moment, and in the blink of an eye being somewhere else … say … on the beach, reading a good book!

Now for a little quid pro quo...

I’ll ask your FAVORITE and you supply the first thing that comes to you.  Ready?  FAVORITE..
...color? purple (Poppy’s favorite too!)
...season? Fall for sure
...Day of the week? (had to ask!) Saturday
...smell? Coffee
...author? William Shakespeare
...book? Pride and Prejudice
...writing space? At a local restaurant or coffeeshop

If you knew then what you know now, what advice would you share with your former self as well as those budding writers out there?

Keep on going. There will be rejection. And more rejection. And more rejection. And as cliché as it sounds, just don’t give up. And don’t stop writing!

Thanks so much for having me on your blog today!
