Hi there!
Welcome back to the Friday edition of Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Ever have that feeling like you totally forgot something? It sits at the back of your brain, nagging, prodding, poking, just waiting for the right moment to spring to the forefront of your thoughts so you have an OMG moment and can finally put things right. Yeah, I had that myself the other day. I was closing out my January 2017 review folder, when I noticed a lingering request. I opened the email with baited breath and realized two things: first, I HAD read the book...and second, the review never went LIVE! *-* My apologies to the author, but trust me when I say, it wasn't for a lack of love for the book, as you're about to find out.
The book on deck today is a Contemporary Romance with a hearty dose of humor. It happens to be the third book in the Saffron Sweeting series (think Fool's Gold but in the UK), and though I've not read the other two installments (as of yet), I didn't feel like I was missing a thing. So grab your running shoes and a granola bar or two, we're about to set off at a brisk pace with today's ebook of choice...
Sweet Pursuits
Saffron Sweeting, Book 2
by
Pauline Wiles
About the book...
After six blissful years with scientist boyfriend Owen, Bella Beecham was convinced he was about to pop the question she’d been longing to hear. Instead, he accepted a prestigious job in California and left England without a backwards glance. Now, Owen’s back in the village of Saffron Sweeting, and appears to be more eligible than ever. Bella’s determined that the man of her dreams won’t slip through her fingers again.
But her plans to tone up, trim down, and tempt Owen back into her life prove bittersweet. Although Bella’s talent for baking wins her new friends, her tasty treats have a disconcerting tendency to sabotage her own intentions. And as her increasingly bold attempts to recapture Owen’s heart stumble, Bella must question whether she’s chasing a guy who wants to be caught.
A British romantic comedy featuring both familiar characters and fresh faces, Sweet Pursuits explores how a young woman seeking her soulmate must first learn to love herself.

Between these pages is a harried journey of the heart...from scone to road to shining self realization.
Bella is THAT girl. No, not the IT girl, though she wishes she was for one "special" man (who is really a total heel), but the girl who has it going on even when she thinks she doesn't. She's a firecracker with a solid dependability streak towards her friends, work, and perhaps a little too much Pinterest. Yes, in her off time, she pins the hay out of everything wedding related. She even has a Vera tucked away where no one can see it...can't blame her for the hide especially after what happened last time someone caught wind of her frugal shopping habits and ability to plan ahead. Let's just say his cold feet carried him across continents. Bella was crushed and for years failed to move on because she knew in her heart he was the one...but sometimes wishes come true and long held desires blossom in the golden rays of fate and circumstance. Hey, we can dream can't we? Though Bella's heart will be stepped on by several people, it doesn't mean that there's no one out there for her. In fact, I bet that certain someone just perfect for her is closer than she might think...
Overall, this was a rather fun read! There are sexy times that stop short of being risque for reading, body image issues dealt with and squashed, exercise introduced (love the duo's idea to get people moving!), love triumphs and failures, and undeniably tasty....desserts (what? Mind out of the gutter!). It's everything a girl could wish for...except maybe the scandal because really, those belong to the stars, not in the lives of your everyday Joe or Jane, especially this particular type. Through it all, Bella hangs tough with the help of her friends, a newly acquired flirt target, and the new found freedom she's claimed for herself. Take a break and head over to Saffron Sweeting, where the desserts are always fresh, the real friendships run deep, and the road is waiting for the steady rhythm of your own two feet. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

About the author...
British by birth, I’m (Pauline Wiles) now a contented resident of California, although I admit to an occasional yearning for afternoon tea and historic homes. My work has been published by House of Fifty, Toasted Cheese, and Alfie Dog Fiction. My debut novel, Saving Saffron Sweeting, was a quarter-finalist in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and a number one Kindle bestseller. The stand-alone prequel, Secrets in the Sky, was reviewed by Publishers Weekly as ‘an enticing read’. Sweet Pursuits is the third book in the series.
For 2017 I’m excited to launch The Serenity Project, my year-long attempt to glide more and flap less. Every two weeks I’ll be focusing on a different technique to juggle responsibilities, reduce overwhelm, quiet my mind and get better at smelling the roses. I’d love for you to join me by receiving updates: the sign up form is below.
When not writing, I can be found getting the steps wrong in a Zumba class or calculating how many miles I have to run to justify an extra piece of cake. One of my bucket list items is to sell enough books to cover the cost of flying myself and a reader to London for tea.
