Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining The Children's Book Review on a blog tour already in progress starring the latest from prolific author Carole P. Roman. We've featured her work before and I'm certain we'll do it again as she seems to have a wealth of knowledge to share in creative ways landing her as a key contender in the edutainment category. The title on deck today is a partial departure from her norm, as we enter the realm of chapter books, but it's still set to impart a lesson or two as we follow sweet Susannah through a rather rough day. Ladies and gents, today's blog tour guest and featured title is...

About the book...
From award-winning author Carole P. Roman comes a new chapter book featuring Susannah Logan, a young student having a very bad day. It all begins with homework trouble and an invitation to a sleepover that she doesn’t want to go to. Would you want to go to a sleepover in a creepy house? Rather than dealing with her problems, Susannah stuffs them into her backpack. But how much can a backpack take? Will she be able to confront her worries before the backpack bursts? Or will she just continue to hide them away? Join Susannah and her friends in this story sure to charm busy young readers everywhere.

It's a cute read, short and sweet in length, that reminds us to take time out for the things that really matter...and that leaving a banana in ones backpack, for any length of time, is SO not a good idea!
Little Susannah is being weighed down by the weight of the world...one procrastinated matter at a time. What begins with putting off one's homework, continues with a rushed breakfast (hence the guidance on banana keeping), grows with an unwanted invitation, bulks up with a red letter grade, and...do you see where this is going yet? Yeah...exactly. It's a lot for anyone to handle on their own, let alone a little girl just trying to make it through the school day...good thing she's not alone, not truly anyway. It's all a matter of gaining her parents attention before things get out of hand...unless they already are (they are) and they may be needed for the clean up process (definitely needed). Good thing parental units are pros at this sort of thing, even if that knowledge came from their own trials and tribulations in their youth. They do say the best teacher is EXPERIENCE, after all...
Susannah was a darling girl and her determination to tackle everything in its own time was admirable, but seeing her eventually lean on her parents warmed my heart. There is a time for everyone to handle their own "problems" but not when you're still a wee one...that's what parents are for! They teach and learn, while helping us grow into the adults we will be one day...just not today. The helping hands they provide here aid in reinforcing Susannah's inner voice, as well as her problem solving powers, while they too are reminded to make time for the more important things in life...each other.
A great addition to this author's growing list of published works, scattered with pencil illustrations that lend their own whimsy to the story, that'll keep kiddos coming back for more, even once the lesson's been absorbed.
