I gotta say, she is one of my FAVORITE Historical Fiction authors, as her stories are more than just "John, Susan" endeavors. They have stories beyond the potential romance, they have characters that you want to know, and they have witty banter you can't help but smile through, laugh at, or read aloud simply to share the humor infused situation or gem of phrase. So, bookmarks up to you, Virginia Heath, for always providing us with new titles we can count on to entertain, enchant, and be fabulous recommendations! Speaking of which, let me get back to today's title in the spotlight and book of choice...

Oh me, oh my...how I do LOVE a good Historical Romance, and my experience with this author's work remains the same. You can dive right into the story, get to know the characters and their "charms" (or lack thereof...hello Mr. Grouchy Earl!), me captivated by the events unfolding, all while holding your breath (as best you can in between the giggle and guffaws!) as to whether they will or won't see the potentially fabulous duo they could be!
Effie was such a treat! A woman who know her own mind, takes the things seen as drawbacks to others and embraces them, while not shying away from what she wants, what she desires, what she needs...and yes, all that can be taken anyway you want...at least as the story progresses. Mr. Grouchy Earl that I referred to previously is the new man about Rivenhall and a grousier man you've never met. However, if you look a little closer, you'll see that he wears his pain on his sleeve. He carries his guilt like a well loved friend...but this friend left its mark on him in ways he never wished, and can never escape...or can he? It seems a certain precocious woman unafraid to speak her mind has gotten beneath his skin and despite his best efforts, he's been unable to forget her. *sighs* It's not a love at first meet romance, but that unusual meet cute definitely lays the groundwork for something more, whether they like it or not!
Do yourself a favor and jump on board the fandom train behind this author's work...you'll be OH so glad you did, and this latest release is just another example of the fabulousity that awaits you!

About the author...
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
