RRR presents... ONE DAY IN SUMMER by Shari Low - REVIEW!

HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for a blog tour already in progress as we shine the bookish spotlight on a Women's Fiction title you'll definitely want to have on your summer reading list.  It all takes place during the course of a day, but the way the lives of these supposedly strangers intertwine is nothing short of AMAZING, and ultimately heart shattering, but that's a portion of the tale for me to share after the introduction.  SO, ladies and gents, join me as we welcome today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

About the book...
From #1 bestseller Shari Low, an emotional roller-coaster, that keeps you guessing...

One day in summer, three lives are about to change forever.

After two decades of looking after others, this is the day that Agnetha McMaster is reclaiming her life. It's her turn, her time but will she have the courage to start again?

Ten years ago, Mitchell McMaster divorced Agnetha and married her best friend, Celeste. Now he suspects his second wife is having an affair. This is the day he’ll discover if karma has come back to bite him.

Thanks to a DNA test, this is the day that Hope McTeer will finally meet her biological father. But will the reunion bring Hope the answers that she’s looking for?

Three people. Twenty-four hours. A lifetime of secrets to unravel.

This is a story that is definitely the sum of its parts.  The characters make it what it is, for better or worse, and the end results is most DEFINITELY for the better.  Let's take it person by person, leading character wise...

Putting Together the Puzzle Pieces to Grow Accounts

Agnetha...
...our formidable leading lady who loved life, loved love, and loved the chance to share those experiences with others.  She had a free spirit and lived every day to her fullest, but with care and kindest remembered in her choices.  All things were going her way, until one fateful day some 15+ years ago...when a change in circumstance started a snowball effect she could have never imagined.

Mitchell...
...married to Agnetha formerly, yet currently to her former best friend.  Can't say I'm a fan of the cheating kind (and neither was she, hence the divorce), but as they say, you make your bed and then must sleep in it.  Also, karma tends to bite and bite HARD...so yeah, I may be a bit vindictive, but I had a REALLY hard time feeling bad for him.

Hope...
...and innocent among the messes uncovered, but with such a strong spirit, and a great support system.  Being an adopted child is not normally something one would envy, but the way her life turned out...at the very least until all the revelations start happening...even with the poor health, has been somewhat magical.  It was wonderful to see adoptive families shown in such a heart warming light.

Celeste...
...a beauty queen she might be, but definitely a case for it being only skin deep.  Let's just say that if the betrayal of her friend's marriage wasn't enough...THERE'S MORE.  Oh yes, so much more.

The Meaning of Love - Joshua Hehe - Medium

Having a story take place from start to finish in the course of a day, even with multiple characters, can be a bit trying when read.  I mean, you usually get one end of the spectrum (over detailed) or the other (too vague and broad), making it less than enjoyable...which is DEFINITELY NOT the case here!  The chapters were labeled (THANK YOU!) to keep you on track with who's voice it was written in and what time (year).  The character's were distinct, so even if one wasn't paying close enough attention, you could still easily hold the narrative thread.  The way the story unfolded from past to present was absolutely mind-boggling, and yet felt genuine, making it so I really wanted to smack a few about the head in SEVERAL places.

To sum, a GREAT STORY filled with life, love, loss, and heart.  It reminds us that it's never too late to discover our true selves, or our true hearts, and that forgiveness (in the right circumstances) can be next to godliness.  So take a break in your summer days to explore this particular one and see just how carried away a heart can get.
