Today, we've got a special GUEST POST coming at you via Siege Media!  I recently heard from Emily and she had a curiously fun post (complete with infographic!) that was optioned to share.  Considering it was also BOOKISH, I had to say YES!  What's it about?  Well, it pairs books with perfumes, and really, if you're a print reader, you have to admit to smelling at least one book in your lifetime, so what's a better way to carry them with you than with a favorite scent to remember it by?  Read on for a few delectable suggestions...

Classic Books and Perfumes to Match Them

Books have the power to transport us to different worlds, making us step into worlds where magic is real, we communicate with aliens and a grand adventure is just around the next corner. Each book we read has its own personality and power inside of its pages. 

Book lovers have a special relationship with their books, and often want to share their love for their favorite read. One way to do this? Perfume! Read on for a list of classic novels and the perfumes that celebrate them. 

Bibliothèque by BYREDO

This fragrance is an ode to bibliophiles everywhere, and aims to capture the atmosphere of a library.  Combining sweet, floral elements with leather and patchouli,BYREDO wanted to create the scent of leather-bound books and wooden shelves. 

“La Mare au Diable”  — George by Jardins d’Ecrivains

Inspired by the life of the prolific writer Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin — known by her pen name George Sand — this scent is romantic, simple and intriguing. With earthy notes of coffee and tobacco combined with florals and citrus notes, this scent is just as inviting and dating as its namesake.

The world of Earthsea is composed of islands and seas, where a vast array of islands is surrounded by an uncharted ocean. Therefore, it makes sense that this series is best celebrated by an oceanic perfume.

“Into the Wild”  — Feuilles de Tabac by Miller Harris

“Into the Wild” is a tale of adventure and exploration that follows Christopher McCandless. To celebrate the serenity and danger of the outdoors, pair this classic memoir with an outdoorsy and woodsy scent.
