About the book...
Hammer together a mission to turn a crumbling mansion into a cozy bed-and-breakfast, a treasure map, and a family trying to figure out their new normal to build this charming middle grade bursting with humor, heart, and hope.

Much to their surprise, the Peaches had a great summer running their food truck business selling their pies across the Mid-West, but they’re happy to be back home in Duluth, Minnesota, where they can settle back into a routine just in time for the new school year.

That is until Great Aunt Lucinda drops a big surprise on them: She wants to gift them her historic mansion. But there are conditions: they’re to turn it into a cozy and welcoming bed-and-breakfast, something the Peach kids’ mom always dreamed of before she passed away. And they only have until Thanksgiving to do the renovations and prove they can make the business work. It looks like it’s a new chapter of The Great Peach Experiment.

But as the Peaches roll up their sleeves, they quickly realize the house is more of a pit than a welcoming escape. And as the family juggles builders, possible hauntings, doggie obedience training, a treasure hunt, and the demands and worries of work and school, they soon realize that there are wonderful secrets hidden within the house’s walls, if only they can take the time to see them.

You can't keep a good peach down, and these peaches are among the best.

Herb, Freddy, and Lucy...a trio of kiddos older than their years in part thanks to the parting of one of their own (their dear mom), but also in part to how they were taught, their own tenacity, determination, and heart.  Herb may be the youngest, but he's also a pretty smart fellow.  He comes up with some amazing gems, or rather peach pits of wisdom, that will leave a tear in your eye and a smile on your face.  He's also the one that's great at customer service; something that will certainly help out if their new venture takes off.  Freddy may be the middle child, but he's doesn't get lost in the crowd.  He's the artistic one, and though he needs to work on his ability to commit to one idea instead of them all, you can always count on him in the end.  He's good at constructing things, and cooking...again, two great skills for their current experiment...even if his French accent could use some work.  Then we have Lucy, the eldest, who loves a good book, some quiet time to herself, but also takes care of her siblings without a second thought.  She always has their best interests at heart...even if she has taken a little but a time and space to herself this time around.  Hey, we all need a place to call our own, and even the most loving of hearts has to love itself at some point.

These guys can tackle anything...with the help of their scientific, scattered brained, can't really so all the things, but is willing to try some of them at least...dad.  Yes, they have a parental figure, but he's been a bit lost since losing his other half.  It's heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time, but the true magic here is how the kids are working their magic to bring their family back together.  It may be one short in number, but the heart of it is still there...the memory is as alive as ever, and in everything they do, it will continue to be.  It's a great story about life's ups and downs, how to roll with the punches even when you want to call a TKO, and the resilience of family.
