RRR presents... IT'S A WIDOW THING by Karen Booth - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Boy have I been insatiable recently, too! It's been like a maelstrom of bookish goodness around here, and finding the time to fit it all in is hard, but...*puts on big girl pants*....someone's got to do it! Anywho...

Today's blog tour guest comes to us via Rachel's Random Resources and features book three in author Karen Booth's It's Never Too Late series. Ring a bell? Well, I should hope so, as we featured the second title right here on my site this past October...but I digress. If you've not indulged in the series, there's no time like the present, and by present, I mean start with this book because they do a fine job of standing alone too! Ladies and gents, here comes today's title in the spotlight and ebook of choice...

It’s a Widow Thing
by
Karen Booth

About the book...
He’s on the fast-track to serious, and she’s hitting the brakes.

When cosmetics entrepreneur Sabrina Kelly waited until she was thirty-eight to marry, she never thought she’d be widowed by forty. Now, two years later, she’s ready for a dip in the dating pool. And Michael, the merciless flirt who lives down the hall, seems like a fun way to get wet. He has “player” written all over him, but Sabrina’s not looking for a love connection. Her heart can’t take more than a fling.

Wall Street mogul Michael Wright has ignored his mom’s pressure to marry for years. But it’s not until he has a health scare that he finally takes stock of his life. If he’s going to settle down, only one woman comes to mind… his gorgeous, whip-smart neighbor, Sabrina. Their chemistry is off the charts. The banter? So. Hot. But while he’s working overtime to woo her, she’s holding back. Can two people running at different speeds get to happily-ever-after together?

She's got it all. The looks, financial security, a booming business...and a loss that would break anyone's heart. He's got it all. The looks, financial security, a job that makes ends meet...and a secret that he holds close to his heart. Separately, they look like two peas in a pod...but together, they are like TNT and a spark!

My heart went out to Sabrina. She's not had an easy time of things. Her first marriage ended in tragedy, and the stigma attached to her newfound state of widow, leaves me wanting to give her hug and tell everyone else to bug the heck out. Luckily, she's stronger than all that, and even when it gets too much, she's able to pull herself up by the bootstraps. Can't help but admire her. As for Michael, he's eye candy with legs, but he's got a heart of gold, and charisma that just won't stop! Seriously, the man can't seem to help himself, but not in a I-attract-all-the-women sort of way, but in a I-may-be-a-looker-but-I-only-have-eyes-for-you way that rings sincere. The only thing he cares about as much is his family, and if that doesn't make you stop and say awww, read the sentences preceding this again. They both have baggage in their own way, but they don't let it stop them from doing things they want to do, or pursuing those they wish to pursue. *wink wink*

All in all, a fun read to pass a summer day. The flow of the story was fast, but not overly so, and you have just the right amount of time to get use to everyone and everything as it unfolds. I admit, I was taken by surprise at the twist in the story. I had it pegged as playing out differently, but I'm glad for the unexpected to pass. It was just as good, if not better, and made for an ending truly fitting the characters .
