BOOK REVIEW starring... Hideaway in Iceland by Victoria Walker

This time of year, in my neck of the woods, the weather is generally turning cooler, if not verging on the edge of cold.  2022 is proving that anything goes because daytime highs were 80+, but the nights are still cooling down, so you pretty much never know what to wear or what temp you're gonna get!  Oye!  My kingdom for a little seasonal temperatures...although the ones in today's featured title are probably a little brisker than I could initially handle.  We're heading back to Iceland with author Victoria Walker's latest, currently touring with Rachel's Random Resources, and while our last adventure there was just about one year ago, it felt like coming home.

About the book...
PR executive Anna Mortimer has clinched the deal of a lifetime for the hottest celebrity couple to have their wedding covered by a glossy magazine, but when things don’t go to plan and she loses her job, will a well-timed invitation to visit Reykjavik be the perfect distraction while she decides what to do next?

Ned Nokes has just left the safety of the biggest boy band in history to go it alone. With the eyes of the world on him, he escapes to Iceland in search of solitude. He makes friends with people who don’t know who he is but after a lifetime in the spotlight, can he trust anyone who isn’t on his payroll?

Visit Iceland at its most beautiful as autumn turns to winter and find out whether the magic that helped Anna’s friend Rachel find her happy ever after, is still there…

If you read the prior release (Snug in Iceland), it seriously feels just like coming home.  Anna is Rachel's best friend, and when she hits hard times after a media fiasco ends her career, she's there to offer a helping hand, a shoulder on which to cry, and a place to escape reality for a while!  That's right!  A few weeks in Iceland is just what the doctor ordered.  It'll give Anna some much needed time away to figure out her next move, and the space to breathe without anyone she knows bothering round...well, mostly.  It can be a small world sometimes, what with air travel and all, and just when you think you're getting away, some parts of your life can inadvertently follow.  In this case, it's not such a bad thing, as it could mean a love distraction, but Anna's not really not looking for the "L" word right now, and the complications that Ned brings is A LOT more than simply historical baggage.  In order for both of them to discover what they were really seeking, it's gonna take patience, kindness, and some self-reflection.  It may not be easy, but then again, what truly worth having was ever simple?

I loved seeing our lovebirds from the prior novel in this story.  It brought everything back without needing a recap of what happened, and continued our journey towards new beginnings with another potential couple.  Grant it, these two are like oil and water background wise, but if they follow the connection they felt from the start, they are bound to find their way...and watching that happen was equal parts lovely and frustrating!  Sometimes you just want to climb in a story and wake someone up from the self oblivion they're climbed into...and yeah, this was one of them, but eventually the synapses start firing again, and senses are came to in order to reach towards the HEA that was hovering there the whole time.

A great read for Contemporary Romance fans this season or any season, that'll busy your mind and steal your heart.

About the author...

Victoria Walker has been writing romantic fiction since a visit to Iceland in 2014 inspired her first novel. As well as writing, she spends her free time dressmaking, knitting and reading an inordinate amount of contemporary romance, occasionally punctuated by the odd psychological thriller and saga.

In the past she has worked as a cinema projectionist, a knitting and sewing tutor and has owned a yarn store, all things which will no doubt appear in her books if they haven't already.

Victoria lives in the Malvern Hills with her husband and occasionally her two adult children.
