Splish splash, today's featured title is all about the bath... and just how much fun it can be with a little imagination. On tour now with Rachel's Random Resources, it's the latest from author Sue Wickstead...
David’s Bathtime Adventure
by
Sue Wickstead
About the book...
David loves his bath time!
As Mum fills the bath with water, David get himself ready for a swimming adventure.
With toys and his fishing gear, he certainly enjoys splashing around in the water.
(And making a mess!)
Where will his imagination take him?

Rub-a-dub-dub...
David's getting in the tub, but while his mom simply wants him to wash away the dust of the day, he has other things in mind. Things like ADVENTURE. Things like TREASURE. Things like swimming, diving, and casting a net to see what you might catch. But surely this can't all be done in a simply BATH TUB...right? Well, you might be surprised...or you might not, if you're in touch with your inner child, because a healthy dose of IMAGINATION can do wonders for any situation!
Reading this story, I was vaguely reminded us the recent-ish film that starred a beloved book and film character...Mary Poppins. If you've seen the second one, then you know the scenes I'm referencing, and while those are wild and wooly to the extreme, once again, even in comparison, it just goes to show you the depths you can reach, the heights you can scale, and the seas you can traverse...all powered by imagination. I believe this little story would work wonders for little kiddos that aren't as happy about bath time as little David here is, because he can show them what a time can be had between the bubbles and the inevitable draining! I think that those that are a bit older will love the antics he gets up to...although it might not hurt to have a little parental guidance just so they don't turn the bathroom into an aquarium! LOL! Any way you splash it, this one comes up shiny and bright, from the story to the illustrations, with great fun to be had by all.

About the author...
A work of the heart.
I am a Supply teacher working across Sussex and Surrey.
For over 20 years, alongside my teaching career, I worked with a Children’s Charity, a Playbus, which led me to write a photographic history book about it. (Bewbush Playbus.)
I have been telling stories about the bus which led me to writing the fictional tale.
‘Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus’, came out in print in 2014.
The story has led to other children’s stories.
‘David’s Bathtime Adventure’, as well as my last book ‘David’s bin Day’, is a story about my comical little brother growing up and the games he liked to play.
There are more stories written and on their way. (All of my stories do have a bus in them somewhere.)
In my role as visiting Supply Teacher, I am able to share my stories.
I have also undertaken author visits both in schools as well as online, visited libraries for story time and events on request.
I have also used many of my books as a starting point for online learning with EYFSHome – providing ideas to support the books. (Both of the David stories were told as part of this which led to the writing of the books.)

Aww, Thank you for your review, I think you really get it.
ReplyDeleteDavid certainly had lots of imagination and loved to swim in the bath.
Maybe you did too? I know I did until I grew up.
Water of any sort; from muddy puddles to swimming in the sea; can certainly be an adventure.
Bedtime is not just for bedtime, it can be such fun to explore.
Water play can be facinating for little ones
