About the book...

Set among the rolling green Irish hills, Kelkerry Castle is something out of a dreamy fairy tale. For hotelier Bridget Marshall, however, it's a dream come true...once she’s sorted out the mold, lead paint, and ancient plumbing. And she’ll prove to everyone in the nearby village of Shansally (pop. 119) that she’s not just another silly, dreamy-eyed American—including her curt (if utterly gorgeous) new neighbor, Liam O'Flannagain.

Only, this breathtaking castle has far more secrets than expensive repairs. While someone—or something—here desperately wants Bridget to give up and walk away, there’s another force tugging Bridget to stay. Because whenever she’s with Liam, the ancient past seems to come to life again, sweeping them along in a story they’re apparently destined to relive.

Now, Liam and Bridget are caught up in a long-ago tale filled with love, danger, and betrayal. The past seems to be working its magic on both of them, pulling them into a love story they’re helpless to resist. And they’ll have to uncover the truth of what happened all those centuries ago before history—and tragedy—repeats itself.

Alright guys, so not every book is for every reader, and, as readers, we KNOW this, and yet when one falls a little left of field, sometimes it still can shock and awe.  This title was like that for me.  Don't get me wrong, I wasn't disappointed overall, just perturbed by the flashback/time travel combination events.  It felt like I couldn't really get to know either set of characters well enough to form a strong bond with them, and, quite frankly, though I had no affection for the high and mighty snooty love interest, I didn't have any for Liam either.  His personality just felt cold to me.  Maybe it was the past influencing him so much in the present.  Maybe it was the memories, even if they weren't his own, weighing his smile into a frown.  Maybe he just had perpetual resting who-know-what face.  I just couldn't get a good enough feel for them to make it work 100% for me.  Still, with that being said, the building blocks of the story were interesting, such as Bridget's following her dream, and the ending was cause for celebration, not in a sarcastic way either, and I loved how the dog played a roll in all of that too.

All in all, a curious read that will have you wondering just what will happen next, who has it out for her, and asking "why the long face, Liam"!

Now, on to the second book....

About the book...

Sometimes you gotta toss your whole life into a burning dumpster to find what's most important...

Beatrice Archer has always done everything she's supposed to—worked her ass off, ignored her non-existent personal life, and kept her mouth shut. Now she's over it. The rat race, respectability...the underwire bras. She's taking her life back. Starting with moving to Nowhere, Colorado, to live life on her own terms.

Now Bea gives exactly zero forks. Beer for breakfast. Sugar for everything else. Baggy sweats and soft cotton undies FTW. Then, a much younger and delightfully attractive cop is called to deal with her flagrant disregard for appropriate clothing outside the local diner (some folks just don't appreciate bunny slippers) and Bea realizes there's something missing from her little decathlon of decadence...and he might be the guy to help her out.

When it comes to breaking rules, Officer Austin Cooper is surprisingly eager to assist. He's charming, a little bit cowboy, and a whole lot sexy. But Bea's about to discover that breaking the rules has consequences. And all of the cherry pies in Colorado can't save her from what's coming...

Whereas the last was a difficult match, this one was a MATCH ON FIRE!  Okay, so I enjoyed the story, from Bea's middle-age meltdown caused partially by a backwards company that couldn't see what they had in front of them before it all came tumbling down to her new found discovery of designer day-of-the-week panties, and truly being herself.  The thing is, she didn't even know herself and was letting others dictate that for her, so this time of self discovery, as crazy, wild, and over the top (or topless....WARNING:  SMEXY TIMES aplenty!) as it gets, was so worth it!  She learns that she doesn't have to have it all together all the time, wearing sweats and no bra can be a freeing experience, binge watching Supernatural is a VERY good reason to cancel plans, a good slice of pie or ice cream is not the end of her outer beauty, and love can come at pretty much any age, when given the chance.

Honestly, I think you'll really like her, and Austin, well, what's not to like?!  Oh, let's not forget Princess because she is a BOSS.  You'll see what I mean when you read it.  It's out this coming Tuesday, so make your list of rule breaking activities you've ALWAYS wanted to do, and be prepared to compare notes!  Just know that dibs have already been called on Austin, okay?  😉
