How Cats Say I Love You by Guy Brown - REVIEW!

Today's the start of my staycation, and I plan on... okay not really doing that much, but getting caught up on a few things, reading, and resting, which believe you me, sounds like heaven! While my "real life" may have slowed down for a short time, the bookish world is ablaze with SO MANY great releases, and this post features one of them.

It's an adorable Picture Book that's also a bit of unexpected edutainment you won't see coming. Ladies and gents, today's book of choice is...

About the book...
Just like people, cats share their feelings in all sorts of ways. It's up to us to uncover what our furry friends are trying to tell us. Are they gently purring or curiously crouching? Is their tail straight or swishing? Featuring a diverse cast of kids and cats from all over the world, this social-emotional learning book models empathy and compassion. Young readers will learn to look for the different ways their friends—human and feline alike—share their feelings.

This was a charming book featuring people, places, and cats from around the world.  With full colored, full page illustrations throughout,  you get to meet each feisty feline and their human counterparts in their natural habitats. You see right before your eyes what a happy tabby looks like, what an unsettled kitty resembles, and just how curiosity can crook their expressive tail.

From George the British Shorthair with Alice in Wonderland connections to the adorable hopping habits of the Manx, there are a myriad of furry friends to discover. Each cat displays their feelings to help readers, young and young at heart, understand what they are trying to communicate... but that's not the only message here.

The story also shows how we unconsciously share messages with each other, and they don't vary that much from these kitties. Need a break from the group? Alfred lowers his tail, while his human counterpart seeks solace of her own.  New places or situations make you uneasy? Same for George, so curling up and becoming as small as possible, whether human or feline, seems to be the most common reaction.  They say some owners and pets resemble one another, but it seems it's not just in image; it's also in mannerisms.

So go ahead, take a closer look at that over the shoulder glance Mr Whiskers is throwing your way...it may not just be a backwards glance, but a signal to come and play! A great way for kiddos to explore the world of our feline friends, while catching the visual cues for sharing human feelings along the way.
