Taste Testing Tuesdays...and then some!

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers! Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Today's selection is from a book I just recently cracked the spine on but so far, I can't get enough!  Ready for a taste?  Here it comes...

The death of a dream was an eclipsing thing, and the hope that someday things would be better had been Claire's mainstay for as long as she could remember.  She wanted to fight to hold on to that sliver of maybe, but she couldn't bring herself to doubt what she was hearing, because it explained so much.
-- pg 104, Nobody by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (ARC)

So much and yet so little is said with this particular tease; I almost wanted to choose another.  What stopped me?  The way it is written.  The feelings behind it.  The way the words felt meant to be in this particular order as opposed to letters merely slapped on a page in somewhat recognizable fashion.  I've never read this author's work before, but if this is her usual style, I might have to correct that situation post haste.  Thoroughly enjoying this adventure thus far...Nix is a total conundrum but I like figuring him out and Claire, well she could be a mirror image of me most of the time, but really, who hasn't felt like her at some point in their lives?  Can't wait for my next chance to read more but you will have to wait for my review just a bit longer.  No worries, I'm not slacking off, there is a good reason behind the delay.  Read on my friend, read on.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Now...usually that's where this sorta post would end...USUALLY.
Today however is not your usual sorta day.
How so?
Well, because THIS Taste Testing Tuesdays post just so happens to contain a SECOND HELPING well worth making room for on your bookish plate.  You see, today just so happens to be a DOUBLE BOOK BIRTHDAY for author Jennifer Lynn Barnes as both this title and her previous work Every Other Day make their bookshelf debuts in one form or another (hardback for the first, and paperback for the second).  Pretty cool, right?
Wait...there's more.
First...let's read a bit about these titles now, shall we?

Every Other Day

Every other day, Kali D'Angelo is a normal sixteen-year-old girl. She goes to public high school. She attends pep rallies. She's human.
And then every day in between...She's something else entirely.
Though she still looks like herself, every twenty-four hours predatory instincts take over and Kali becomes a feared demon-hunter with the undeniable urge to hunt, trap, and kill zombies, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures. Kali has no idea why she is the way she is, but she gives in to instinct anyway. Even though the government considers it environmental terrorism.
When Kali notices a mark on the lower back of a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these creatures. Kali has twenty-four hours to save her and, unfortunately, she'll have to do it as a human. With the help of a few new friends, Kali takes a risk that her human body might not survive...and learns the secrets of her mysterious condition in the process.

Nobody

The most dangerous people in the world . . . are the ones you don't even see.
Some people are Nobodies: ignored, unloved, practically invisible in every way. No one notices them. No one cares about them. They exist under the radar, forgotten as soon as you turn away. No one sees them coming. No one sees them leave.
That's why Nobodies make the perfect assassins.
Seventeen-year-old Nix is very good at his job. So when the organization he works for sends him after a teenage girl named Claire, he doesn't ask questions. He's a killer. She needs to die.
For sixteen years, Claire has led a normal life being overlooked. Her parents are absent. She doesn't have any friends. She has no idea what she is, or why anyone would want her dead. But she's about to find out, because from the moment Nix attempts to carry out his mission, the two are caught up in a conspiracy of murder, cover-ups, and betrayal.
Nix is a killer. Claire is his target. But from the moment he sets eyes on her, everything changes, because only the two of them can truly see each other -- and two Nobodies are more than twice as dangerous as one.
