Right Click by Lisa Becker

Hi guys!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're starting up the week by rounding out our reading adventure through the epages of author Lisa Becker's fab little Contemporary Romance trilogy...though if I do say so myself, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing at least ONE MORE added to make it a quartet (more on that in a minute), but I digress.  You didn't come here to hear my suggestions now did you?  You came to read about the books and what new titles you should add to your wish lists!  Happy to oblige.  Ready or not, here they come!  Oh and the "they" we're speaking of is the quirky group of friends we've come to know and love, in case you were wondering.  Anywho, onward to today's ebook of choice...

About the book....
Love. Marriage. Infidelity. Crises of identity. Death. Cupcakes. The themes in Right Click, the third and final installment in the Click series, couldn't be more pressing for this group of friends as they navigate through their 30's. Another six months have passed since we last eavesdropped on the hilarious, poignant and oftentimes inappropriate email adventures of Renee and friends. As the story continues to unfold, relationships are tested and some need to be set "right" before everyone can find their "happily ever after."

When I reviewed book 1, I was delighted to see that not only did I enjoy the story, but the format worked in its favor.  When I dove into book 2, I was ready to get to know these characters better still because they were like the gal and guy pals you've always wanted; they have your back when needed, add a smile to your day, and tell you like it is when called for (and sometimes not).  Then, it was time for book 3.  For me, trilogies usually work out pretty well if I've survived book 2 (and this second one here was a walk through the park, no survival skills necessary!), but one can never judge the finale fully by its predecessors.  After all, there are exceptions to every rule.

So, was THIS an exception to that rule?
*tick tock tick tock*

I'm happy to report that is WAS NOT...that is book 3 followed suit to leave a name for itself while allowing us further involvement in the lives of these wonderful friends. Now, that's not to say that they didn't experience their ups and downs.  Time is marching on and things change.  There were bound to be some hiccups but leave it to this crew to navigate with such expertise.  In keeping with the informal format, I give you my brief overview of the stars of our show.... (just beware of spoilers...hey, it's not my fault!  You should have read the other two already! ^-^)

Renee:  My girl, you did it...and by  "did it" I don't simply mean a Shelley-esque meaning.  You took the plunge, survived all the weeks before, wallowed through the sadness life dealt you, learned to stand on your own two feet and came out stronger on the other side.  That stand you took at your place of business took guts and the respect you gained from others for it was well deserved. So happy to see things coming together for you, though I was curious for a moment to see what would happen when Jason showed up again.  That could have made for an interesting showdown...

Shelley:  Well now....who'd have thought?  You?  I mean, I didn't see it coming.  Now, I don't mean that in a negative way Miss Snarky-pants but honestly, you seemed so content with how things were, why would we have guessed you'd aim to change it?  Guess that goes to show you that there is someone out there for everyone.  Even if you have to kiss every frog in the pond, you're bound to get there one day and my dear, you scored big time!  So happy for you...and also glad to see it didn't mellow you out completely though.  Renee needs your yin to her yang for balance.

Ashley:  You with the backhanded compliments....oye!  You don't sugar coat and yet what you say can be just as cutting with its prim and poised presentation. Knock it down a few, okay?  Otherwise, you're a sweetheart and I totally see why Renee and the crew (even Shelley) keep you close to their hearts.   I have to say though, I see Shelley's influence rubbing off on you...that bachelorette party gift was definitely a surprise! Good for you.  Glad to see you, the hubs, and the little one was making a life for yourselves while sharing the love with your circle of friends.

Mark:  So glad to see "cat"-ssidy is out of the picture.  No one really liked her anyway though the way it all went down MAJORLY sucked for all involved.  The observations you made about the nice guy finishing last and how the moment you finally have someone in your life, they stomp all over your heart, just about broke MY heart (can't say I don't share the boat).  Hang in there big guy.  There's bound to be a happy ending at the end of your rainbow yet (the end of which I've read but won't spoil it THAT much for all of you!).

Ethan:  You can be an honest-to-goodness goober, but you're pun-ny (< - typed that on purpose), dedicated, and also REALLY love Renee, which for that reason alone, you score higher in everyone's book. We could do without all the overtime as your girl needs you at home but it is commendable that you want to take care of her and develop a nice nest egg for your life together.

About the author...

Lisa had endured her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates, many of which inspired Click: An Online Love StoryDouble Click and Right Click.  The books, about a young woman’s search for love online in Los Angeles, have been called, “a fast read that will keep you entertained,” “a fun, quick read for fans of Sex and the City,” and “hard to put down.”  The first in the series has now been optioned for a major motion picture.

She’s written bylined articles about online dating and has been featured in Cupid’s Pulse, Garmental.com, TV Grapevine, GalTime.com, Single Edition, Career 2.0, The Perfect Soulmate, Chick Lit Central and numerous other book blogs and websites.

A former public relations professional, Lisa has worked with some of the biggest consumer companies in the world including McDonald’s, Ford, Sony and Gatorade.  She’s also a former college professor, teaching public relations and communications classes at University of Southern California and Oglethorpe University.

As Lisa’s grandmother used to say, “for every chair, there’s a tush.”  Lisa is now happily married to a wonderful man she met online and lives in Manhattan Beach with him and their two daughters.  So, if it happened for her, there’s hope for anyone!
