About the book...
Bella and Bertie are twins, but they don’t know that, or each other. Separated while babies by bad law, they grew up 6000 miles apart, in Singapore and London. Follow the twins as they discover their shared past and do their best to make a better future for themselves, their families, and others like them.

This book was so SURPRISING in so many ways!

First of all, it's a delightful Picture Book filled with colorful monsters, and a story that kiddos can relate to.  On the surface, even the youngest can enjoy it cover to cover...but, when you dig a little deeper, you get so much more than you might expect, which brings us to the second point. It's a story that allows readers to explore issues we see in today's world through the fictional viewpoint of the monster society.

We've got bad laws (separating twins at birth!  What in the actual world?!), growing up feeling different, families that aren't quite cookie cutter, and those working for change.  Bella and Bertie will snag your heart as they grow to know themselves while still acknowledging that feeling of something missing...and yet they never even think about stopping their unintentional searches for that missing piece.  They know its out there, their families support them, and that makes their eventual find all the sweeter! Along the way, we are treated to some fabulous locations around the world with added details about their real life counterparts that further the edutainment value of this work.  My favorite?  The Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the Flower Dome, both in Singapore.  They look and sound AMAZING; I can only imagine what it might be like to actually step foot there!

So, if you're in the mood for a MONSTER size story (times two!) filled with heart, family, and equality for all, step inside The Monster Twins for a trip round the world you won't soon forget!

About the authors and illustrator...

The Monster Twins is a truly family affair, inspired by our daughter's colourful monster drawings, which she has been creating since she was very young, and our travels to amazing places around the world. Robert (dad) wrote the copy and Ella (the daughter) and Karen (mum) drew the illustrations and designed the pages.
