Why hello there everyone!
Happy Thursday to you.
Hopefully the week has been treating you well and look...the weekend fast approaches! Oh dear...that means the holidays are almost here too. How many more days of shopping left are? *checks calendar* Short answer...too few. *le SIGH* Oh well, tis the season to enjoy the festivities and joyful feelings that seem to permeate the air....the shopping will get done...eventually. *whistles* Anywho...
Today's post stars a particular type of fellow near and dear to my heart. He's warm, loves to cuddle, but may shed if not brushed often. Have you guessed who or what it might be? Betcha did...but just in case, let me jump right into the review. The book of choice for today is....
The Pup After Merle
by
Pukka is a puppy. See him over there? Such a cutie! Pure happiness in a furry package of high energy and endless love...but this is more than a book about an adorable dog. This is a story of new beginnings. A story of what happens when heartache reaches a slightly lesser thrum in our hearts and we allow love and friendship to enter anew. This is the story of Pukka.
Oh me, oh my...how to summarize this one. It's one of those quick reads in regards to the actual written story but the accompanying photographs will give you paws...excuse me, pause...with each turn of the page. Seriously! Once I picked it up, I finished it in a sitting...all 200 pages. It's presented as basically a picture book aimed at adults but with the power to steal the hearts of all ages. EVERY PAGE has a photo that transports you to the next phase of Pukka and Ted's adventures. Everything is included from the adorably cute "look my toy is as big as me" moments to the "I didn't do it" mischievous faces, the moments of new discoveries to those captured on their many wilderness hikes; it seems this pair, though still in the beginning phases of their relationship (as Pukka is only 6 months old by the book's end), have created a strong bond of friendship, love, and loyalty that will serve them well in years to come. To say more would take away from the book itself, I am convinced...but to say any less would not do it justice. Let's just say that one can only hope that we will be treated to their further adventures as time progresses.
Pukka tames the sprinkler...LOL! See the full gallery at the author's site. |
Recommended reading for fans of the author's previous work about his first puppy friend Merle, as well as dog lovers the world wide. Just try not to smile at the antics of this young beauty as he grows from precocious little one to a boisterous fun loving pup ready to take on the world. A touching recollection of puppy hood if I've ever seen one that asks readers to sit up and take note of the wonderful companions...friends...family...that our pets truly are.
Special thanks to Anna at FSB Associates for the review copy. (THANKS!) ReplyDeleteAhhh...you just want to run right up and hug that little guy! He's so adorable, and what a touching story. It's incredible how quickly these furry little guys can touch our hearts and change us forever, but they do. What a lovely story as well as a beautiful review!
ReplyDeleteI love dogs, unfortunately I cannot have pets as I am in work all day and no one to look after pets for 12 hours everyday... wish otherwise... Pukka is sooo cute!!
