Taste Testing Tuesdays

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!  Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading

This week is Children's Book Week and we're continuing the celebration of all things BABY through YOUNG ADULT with today's post.  Don't forget to check out the giveaway hop fun that kicked off yesterday for your chance to win a fun prize pack from yours truly.  Now back to today's "show".

On the menu this week...a series I've been working my through over the past month or two and JUST finished (no really...even the epilogue online!).  It's a dark, twisted but oh-so-good Young Adult series you need to read to believe.  Perhaps one day it'll be optioned for a movie....if so, consider me already in line.  Two teasers from today's selection (one a bit lengthy, but I think you'll enjoy the laugh), coming right up.....

Escape from Furnace, book 5:  Execution
by
Alexander Gordan Smith

'How do I look?' I asked, wiggling my toes and wishing I could find some shoes as well.  But at least I was in fresh clothes that didn't reek of other people's blood. Be thankful for small mercies, as my gran had always said.
'You look like a carrot having a bad hair day,' Simon commented.
'Thanks,' I replied, leading the way back out of the shop.
'Or a leprechaun on growth hormones.'
'Okay, I get it, enough.'
'Whose clothes were designed by a Muppet and sewn together by a blind Mexican monkey.'
-- pg 204

'Doctor Moreau, anyone?' asked Zee.
I had no idea what he was talking about.
'H.G. Wells? "The Island of Doc -- Oh, never mind; forget it,' said Zee, obviously disgusted to be in such badly read company.
-- pg 223

HA!  You see why I couldn't resist EITHER of these gems?  The first just keeps going and the second, well it's bookish, nuff said.  Only these three would be thinking laughable thoughts in circumstances such as the ones they are actually in when these scenes occur.  Oh and in case you're wondering, this IS the UK edition.  Why?  The US edition doesn't release until November this year.  *o*  You didn't expect me to wait that long for the final installment now did you?  Rest assured when it DOES release, I'll be picking up a copy to complete my collection.

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Until next time....happy reading!

  1. A leprechaun on growth hormones, clothes designed by a Muppet and sewn together by a blind Mexican monkey - I'm loving the sound of this.

  2. That first one is hilarious, but the second one was pretty funny as well! I never would have guessed based on the cover...the story seems very dark. Nice to see a bit of the text to shed light on the story. Great picks! :o)

    Juju: Thought you might... ^_^

The1stdaughter: Truth be told, it IS dark but that doesn't mean there isn't any light within. ^_^

    Melissa: DEFINITELY did!
