Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're checking out the forthcoming release from Chick-Lit author Meredith Schorr starring a title that reminds us to be grateful for the things (and people) we have (yay, Thanksgiving!), while still dishing up a dose of holiday-to-come fun...complete with a little kissing minus the mistletoe (uh-oh...someone's in trouble!). Ready or not, here comes today's book of choice...

About the book...
The Holiday meets The Proposal
Is Christmas really the most wonderful time of the year? New Yorkers Robyn Lane and Sidney Bellows aren’t so sure.
Robyn has always dated struggling creative types. For once, her parents would love her to bring someone with health insurance and a 401(k) to their Chrismukkah celebration. Her boyfriend, Perry, doesn’t qualify. As an attorney at her father’s law firm, Sidney’s professional life already belongs to her parents. She works tirelessly to keep her love life private. If she brings her lawyer boyfriend, Will, to their annual Christmas extravaganza, her parents will have the wedding planned by New Year’s Eve.
A mutual friend playfully suggests they trade boyfriends for the holidays. The girls share a laugh, but after copious amounts of wine, decide The Boyfriend Swap could be the perfect solution. This way, Robyn can show off her stable attorney boyfriend and Sidney’s high-society family will take no interest in her flaky actor beau.
It’s a brilliant plan—in theory. In practice—not so much. When Will turns out to be the boy-next-door Robyn crushed on hard throughout her teenage years, and Sidney’s family fawns all over Perry like he’s an Oscar winner rather than a D-list wannabe, one thing is certain: The Boyfriend Swap might just change their lives forever.

Picture it...
...home for the holidays with everyone in harmony...
...or not.
You see, THAT'S the goal of Robyn and Sidney's ill-fated swap...to have a truly HAPPY holiday for all parties involved. Their relationships would be safe from the prying eyes, ears, and nosy-busy-bodies in their hometowns aka as family. There would be no awkward matchmaking because they were quite obviously spoken for. The long-winded talks of their "intentions" would be laid by the wayside because their respective parents would have no interest in learning more about their daughter's potential other half or be so secure in the the choice they made that they let sleeping dogs lie. Yeah...it was good in THEORY but not so much in execution.
First of all, perhaps it's not the BEST idea to take a chance on a random suggestion when it comes from your overly spirit infused friend who is a few shades past tipsy. True, she's a sweetheart, but very rarely do top notch plans stem from drunken nights, no matter how good they sound. Second, the very fact that they can't "face the music" for their sweeties may speak louder than the holiday tunes blasting for downtown shoppers enjoyment. Just sayin'...
Anywho...hindsight is 20/20 and BOY do these two get the chance to prove that theory, but along the way their adventure leads to insights into themselves, their relationships, their goals in life AND love, and quite a few holiday miss steps that provide a jolly dose of humor. I really felt for Robyn in both her reluctance to agree to this curious charade as well as her desire to have the perfect holiday. No one really wants the drama that comes from family getting together, and while certainly misguided, her intentions were pure of heart. It was totally ironic that the boyfriend she was swapping for happened to be an old crush...I gotta say I was rooting for a permanent swap from the word GO once I discovered that little tidbit. As for the others, Sidney I never truly grew to like, too ambitious for my taste in friends, Perry was WAY too into himself, though he certainly knew how to have a good time, and Will...well, I actually liked the presumably stiff lawyer because once he got back to his roots, he was definitely a keeper.
All in all, a great add to your holiday reading list or any reading list for that matter. If you're a fan of Chick-Lit or Women's Fiction, you won't be disappointed.
