Part humor, part (humorous) guide, this book sheds some light on our favorite witch's from both past and present times. Curious how to spot a good witch besides the pink glittery gown as displayed by Glinda in The Wizard of Oz? Or perhaps you are more about learning tactics to avoid a bad witch such as Maleficent popularized by Disney's Sleeping Beauty? Wherever your preference lies, this book provides and insiders look at their history, disguishing features, avoidance tactics, and even a test to determine your own witchy capabilities. How would you score? (I wonder...) Upon completing the "course", you too can be a proud bearer of "Witch Identification" card at book's end. Come on, admit it! You always wanted to see the future and fly on a broom...what other use would there be for the one you have and never use?
*SMILE* You definitely will smile and chuckle (not laugh, but defnitely chuckle) often while reading this one...I know I did. Book two from my Halloween night waiting-for-more-trick-or-treaters activity and it did not disappoint. I picked this one up in the bargain section of my local bookstore (funny how LOADS of really great titles end of there....all the better for my pocketbook!)...I believe it was actually in the kids section. I can see how perhaps for older children or maybe teens this would work, but otherwise I would put it in the seasonal humor section. (Then again some other readers that take the mini "spells" section a little too seriously may put it somewhere else entirely different...but we'll focus on my assessment for now.)I found it very entertaining as well as interesting. There are not only humorous bits and information regarding much loved and not-so-loved witches from literature and the silver screen...but there are also informatve pieces on the phases of the moon, holiday origins, and ancient herb uses. It's a great combination for some seasonal fun as well as expanding your knowledge horizons. Who knows...some of it might even prove useful if you're having a bad day or simply in need of some "watercooler trivia". (Then again, some other parts could be just as useful for seeing into the future....oooooohhhhhhhh....yeah, I've got to improve upon my spooky sound typing skills...)

If you could cast a magic spell, what would it be for? Let's just throw all the pre-conceived notions of "no personal gain spells" popularized by entertaining references out the window....you could have or do anything! What would it be?
