JULIA
I never saw Noah Weston coming. He swept into my life like an unexpected storm, but soon, he was everything to me.
Until tragedy struck.
One day I was planning the rest of my life with my soulmate, and the next I was picking up the pieces of a love so strong, it broke me apart.
It took three years to put myself back together.
Three years until I was ready to move on.
I’ll never forget it. The day he came back.
Can lightening strike twice? Maybe, but when I look into his eyes, all I remember are the last words he ever spoke to me.
The words that left me broken.

NOAH
I loved her before I knew her name. She was more than just my heartbeat. Julia Blake was a dream too good to be true.
When real life invaded the bubble we had created, I was left a broken man.
I survived, but I was dead inside. Half the man I used to be.
The half I needed had a new life without me.
Three years later, I’m back to reclaim what I’ve lost.
I’m back for her, only she wants nothing to do with me.

“Oh, really?” I take one shoe off and throw it at him as hard as possible. He manages to move before it makes contact. He’s not so lucky with the second shoe, and it hits him right on the shoulder. “Here! Take them! And for the last time, this is not our anniversary! You broke up with me, remember? This is a Friday night, and I planned on going out with a man I’m interested in getting to know and possibly fuck. Do you know why? Because I’m single!”
“Girl, watch your mouth. Don’t make me call your momma,” Mr. Hampton yells.
All the neighbors stare, waiting to see what we do next. Anger fuels my next steps as I stomp my way back to my house, but Noah and Greg are right behind me. A few of the neighbors have now stepped off their porch to stand on the sidewalk.
“You guys want a show?” I shout.
“Bring it, girl,” someone answers back.
“This is what I’m going to do with your anniversary flowers, you lying, selfish jerk.” I open the door and grab the arrangement. I walk to the middle of the street, lift it above my head, and slam it to the ground with all the strength I can muster. The vase shatters in the middle of the street, the two dozen roses bounce on the pavement, and the water from the vase rolls down the concrete. “Happy fucking anniversary, you liar! Go to hell or go back to your racist parents. I don’t care which, just stay the fuck away from me, or I swear to God, that limp will be the least of your problems!”
“Leave my parents out of this! This is between us, and for the record, I haven’t talked to them in months.”
“Sure. You managed to buy a house on your teacher’s salary, right? That’s realistic considering you’ve had the job for two months. Maybe you used your nonexistent teaching bonus as a down payment? God, you’re a liar, and I hate myself for never seeing you for the dishonest person that you are!”
“Why do you keep calling me a liar? What the fuck do you think I lied about?” he yells.
“You lied about everything!” I scream so loud I can feel the vein in my neck pulsing. I take a step closer and point my finger in his face. “I love you, Li. You’re my world, Li. I want you to have my baby, Li. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Li.” I do a poor imitation of his voice as I scream in his face. “And you let me believe you were a struggling student just like me, not the son of millionaires. Everything about you is a lie. Our entire relationship was an illusion.”
“I meant all of that! I still want all of that with you, and I never told you I was struggling. We never even talked about money. Everything I said was true. Every feeling. I love you so much, it physically hurts to breathe sometimes.”

Q & A With Eveyln Sola

  1. Have you always wanted to be a writer?

No, I didn’t. I’ve always been an avid reader, but I never aspired to be a writer. I never thought I had it in me to tell a story from beginning to end and keep it interesting. Then around 2016/2017, I started reading Fifty Shades of Grey fanfiction. After about a year of being a reader, I was persuaded by a couple of people to write my own stories, so I did, and I haven’t looked back since. Once I did that, it didn’t take much to convince myself that I can create my own characters and my own world.

  1. Describe your typical writing day for us.

I try to do most of my writing in the morning. I’m fresher and more alert when I first wake up. I guess I’m what is known as that annoying morning person, but I have a fulltime job, which gets in the way of my passion. I try to do about an hour’s worth of writing before work and a few sprints during the day. My goal is to get two thousand word down each day. I don’t always make it, but that’s always my goal.

  1. Where does your inspiration come from?

Other writers in the Indie community inspire me. From people who have been at it for years, to those who are just starting out like me.

  1. How do you come up with your book titles?

All of my titles so far are one word. I try to find a verb that best captures the essence of the book.

  1. Can you share with us something about the book that isn't included with the blurb?

As you know, Broken is a second chance romance. One of my favorite romance tropes, by the way. The hero is the one who ends the relationship, and he shows back up three years later. He not only manages to get a job at the same place as the heroine, but he moves in across the street from her as well. He infiltrates her life in every way.

  1. Do you listen to music when writing? If so, can you share with us some of the songs that inspired you or that you listened to while writing?

I don’t listen to music when I write. I always have the TV on, however, and it’s usually on Investigation Discovery.

  1. Using only 3 words how would you describe Julia? Noah?

Julia is strong. I believe she’s a survivor. She’s also guarded.  Noah is resilient, brave, and definitely a fighter.

  1. What do you hope readers will take away from this book?

This is a story about two young people who find love until they are forced apart. It’s a story about family and the power of forgiveness.

RRR presents... DAUGHTER OF THE SEA by Sylvia Broady - EXCERPT!

HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're shining the BOOK SPOTLIGHT on a title on tour with Rachel's Random Resources and diving between the pages of a book that, from the sound of things, will have our leading lady getting her sea legs in life, and finding herself along the way.  Ready or not, here comes today's title in the spotlight...

Daughter of the Sea
by
Sylvia Broady

About the book...
‘Well-paced … genuinely gripping’ Historical Novels Review

Jessica is grieving for her beloved father, trawler owner Jacob Kingdom, when a heated confrontation ends with her being cast out from the family home and the revelation of a shameful secret. She falls upon the kindness of strangers and meets a charismatic trawlerman, who is proud to walk out with Kingdom’s daughter.

But with her cold-hearted brother at the helm of the family business, there is discontent rising, and being Kingdom’s daughter begins to lose its charm. With Jessica desperate to prove herself worthy to the tight-knit community, does she have what it takes to weather the storm to come, or will her secret hold her back?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~   EXCERPT   ~~~

4 – extract. Jessica naively, has fallen in love with a charismatic trawlerman and becomes pregnant.

‘We’re getting married,’ cried an excited Jessica.

Elsie disappeared, returning with a tray bearing three glasses of rum. ‘A toast to your good news,’ Elsie beamed. ‘Where will you live?’ she asked.

‘With Mam!’ exclaimed Rick. ‘Won’t she mind?’ Jessica asked, not sure if she wanted to start married life with her mother-in-law.

‘Mam’s the salt of the earth; she’ll welcome you with open arms.’

‘Then I have to meet her. She sounds lovely.’

The next day hurried arrangements were made for Jessica to meet Bertha Gallager and she’d made a special effort with her appearance. She applied a touch of powder and lipstick, teased out the curls of her freshly washed hair and wore a navy-blue dress with a white collar and tiny pearl buttons down the front of the bodice. Glancing in the mirror at her reflection, she hoped she’d created the right impression for her prospective mother-in-law to approve of her.

She smelt the Dutch courage on Rick’s breath as the taxi drew up outside Bertha’s house on Cambridge Street. Jessica cast her eyes over the neat-looking house in a row of identical ones. There were cream net curtains covering the lower part of the sash windows. With a jerk, the brown-painted front door opened and a woman wearing a floral crossover pinafore stood on the well-scrubbed step with arms akimbo and her thin lips set. She reminded Jessica of Claude and she shuddered.

Rick helped her out of the taxi and with his arm possessively around her shoulders, swaggered towards his mother. ‘Hello, Mam, got the kettle on?’

Jessica felt the woman’s cold, flint-grey eyes assessing her. ‘You best come in, the neighbours will have enough to gossip about,’ said the woman.

This wasn’t quite the welcome Jessica had anticipated, having in her mind a kind, caring woman. Perhaps it was the shock of hearing she was expecting a baby. Once in the kitchen, Bertha made a fuss of Rick and ignored Jessica. For once in her life, Jessica felt tongue-tied and wished she’d thought to bring flowers for Bertha.

As they sat round the table drinking tea, Jessica forced herself to speak and said, ‘It’s nice of you to let Rick and I live here after our wedding.’

Bertha gave her a cold stare and replied, ‘Where else would my son live?’

An icy-cold blast ran through Jessica’s body making her shiver.

Rick excused himself and went out to the lavatory in the backyard. Then Bertha pounced. ‘What the hell game are you playing? Trapping my son with a bairn. He doesn’t need a wife, he’s got me to look after him, and he can have a bit of other anytime with any girl. So why would he need you? You’re nowt but trouble. I bet yer a wrong’un. Why else would yer mother chuck you out? Money or not, I don’t want my Rick tied up with the likes of you.’ With that outburst, Bertha grabbed a cigarette from Rick’s packet, lit it and turned her back on Jessica.

Jessica opened her mouth, but no words came. She wished she smoked to help steady the growing uneasiness within her. Instead, she stared into her half-empty cup of tea. So it was common knowledge she’d left Glenlochy House.

Entangled Amara

About the book....
As owner of the most scandalous club in London, the last thing the notorious Marquess of Roth wants is a wife. Keeping up his false reputation as a rake brings in the clients with the deepest pockets; money he needs to fund a noble cause. Even though everything inside tells him not to leave his beautiful, innocent wife behind at his country estate…he must.

But three years later, tired of her scoundrel of a husband headlining the gossip rags, Lady Isobel Vance decides enough is enough. She is no longer a fragile kitten, but as the anonymous author of a women’s sexual advice column, she’s now a roaring tigress…and she can use her claws.

Isobel decides to go to him in London, channeling her powers of seduction to make him beg to take her back. But she didn’t expect her marauding marquess to be equally hard to resist. Now the game is on to see who will give in to the other first, with both sides determined like hell to win.

Each book in the Regency Rogues series is STANDALONE:
* The Beast of Beswick
* The Rakehell of Roth

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My dear readers, please take a moment to compose yourselves because once you've started THIS PARTICULAR "dance"...you won't want to stop 'til you've reached book's end!
Isobel and Winter...an unusual couple from the start, though not by looks.  He, a notorious rake though heir to his family's title and then some, and she, a beauty without a season desperately trying to escape an entirely unwanted match.  It looked good on paper, it certainly felt good on their wedding night, but that is where the potential fairytale ends.  He left her for three years with barely a correspondence, which even when received was not directly from him, while building up his business and carefully courting his reputation as a notorious rake.  She having caught wind of these affairs some time ago has finally reached a boiling point...and with the help of some good friends, and a boost of confidence from Lady Darcy herself, she's finally ready to call his hand in the ultimate game of life; LOVE.
Oh.  My.  Word.
The tension between these two leaves almost everything feeling like an innuendo, having been made intentionally or not.  You could literally start fires with the looks that pass, and make bets on how fast the flames would spread if they ever truly get over, around, or through the walls they both have around their hearts.  I was routing for Isobel as I truly felt for her.  She entered the marriage thinking one thing, only to be disillusioned, but she wasn't giving up without a fight!  Still...I was also behind Roth because, well...I mean, he's who he is with the brains and the brawn, and yet he still can't help but get it wrong with where he places blame.  True, it'd help if he listened to some much overly needed explanations that were trying to be given to him concerning the whole situation, but I get it...his heart was hurt and he wasn't risking it again.  Or at least, he THOUGHT he wasn't...because as we all know, the heart wants what it wants!
So, if you're a Historical Fiction fan, love witty banter, and don't mind the serious blush factor here, this is SO the book for you!  I mean, I enjoyed it immensely...and though I might not read ALL the passages aloud in public (oh I could see the looks now!  Talk about the talk of the ton!), I definitely shared some private chuckles, gasps, and moments right alongside Clarissa and Isobel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

All that I said about this one in the opening?
SO TRUE...and THEN some!

Seriously, when I found out it was the THIRD in the Regency Belles of Bath series, all I could think was....WHY haven't I heard of it before, WHERE was someone to recommend it to me, and GIVE ME MORE! Bea was a doll...though she was treated as anything but! She took her chance when she saw it (SO don't blame her!), made her way in the world (you go girl!), and yet wasn't so headstrong that she couldn't allow herself the chance to follow her heart when...or rather IF, the moment presented. Quin was a rather gallant gentleman, despite his family history, and I think his handling of his new bride's departure was MORE than elegant. Still...it took a hard conversation he didn't want to have to shake him out of his total emotional self control...and to what end? Ahh...wouldn't YOU like to know! Let's just say it's VERY hard to put a stopper back in a bottle, no matter what it may have contained.

In the end, I loved the premise, adored the story, cherished the characters (well, most of them...that Dowager though...ugh!)...and if pressed for a favorite, I wouldn't hesitate to say...HELEN! I know, you're wondering WHO in the world is that?! Well, she's Quin's darling little sister, and the moment she makes herself known, you'll be hard pressed to forget her. Do yourself a favor and make your acquaintance with Belles...because I know as far as I'm concerned, this may have been my first of the series, but it won't be my last!  (No, seriously...like I just went over to the Harlequin site and ordered this book in print and the others!  *yay me*)

RRR presents... MONSTER MAX by Robin Bennett - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi guys!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers...and happy Valentine's Day!

Today, we're hosting a spot along the Rachel's Random Resources tour for a very Fun, very CREATIVE, very...UNUSUAL book that is bound to have you in equal parts stitches and dismay as our young lead finds himself in some very sketchy situations, all thanks to a rather unique family history. But I digress, let's get to the introductions and then we'll duck between the pages. Ladies and gents, kiddos and fur bearing critters alike, join me as we welcome today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

Monster Max and the Bobble Hat of Forgetting
Monster Max series, Book 1
by
Robin Bennett

About the book...
Max is an unusual 9-year-old. He can turn himself into a huge, bin- eating monster by BURPING. Being a monster is brilliant, unless he sneezes (which turns him back) and he finds himself far from home in just his pants.

Max decides to be more responsible and ‘protect and do good stuff’, starting with catching a local vandal. But his nemesis, Peregrine, is convinced Max is the vandal, and invents his POOP (Portable Operating Omni Prison) machine to trap him. If Peregrine can prove the truth, Max and his mother could be put in a zoo … or worse. Max will have to use his wits as well as his strength to catch the real culprit, before Peregrine can catch him…

AMAZON US | UK

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was an adventure I embarked off completely off my reading schedule. I was done with the book I was reading, adrift without my calendar, and BOOM...the cover called to me in my reading app and the rest is history!
I gotta say, Max was a hoot and a half! The ability he has is unique enough as it is, but his attempts at trying to do good and it constantly being thwarted by seemingly half-wit nincompoops is ridiculous! I say half-wit because Peregrine is actually on to something with his out-there-sounding contraptions. I mean the POOP (see book description for explanation...I'm not actually making a potty joke) was some serious...STUFF...and almost caused the end of Max's exploits when he...well, when everything hit the fan! *ahem* Anyway...suffice it to say that not every person is quite as adept at catching our young monster come young man in the act, and sometimes he DOES actually get the drop on others, but while his stealth needs work, his heart is in the right place. I mean, he could just go on a rampage, but he doesn't...although there is a pesky little “visitor” from lands only his family knows of that seems to be dead set on causing as much ruckus as possible, but that a story for you to explore once you take the jump between the pages to discover all the wonder, all the magic, all the wild weirdness that you didn't know you were missing out on!
Oh, and one final thing...the BOBBLE HAT mentioned in the title is ACTUALLY a thing! And to think all this time it was...I mean, umm....where is that thing? *whistles*
Max and Zena are brought to a safe camp by Jewish resistance fighters. But soon, bombs are falling all around them. Can Max and Zena survive the fallout of the Nazi invasion?
With art by Álvaro Sarraseca and text adapted by Georgia Ball, Lauren Tarshis' beloved and acclaimed I Survived series takes on vivid new life in this explosive graphic novel edition. Publishing in simultaneous hardcover and paperback editions, the book also includes nonfiction back matter with historical photos and facts about World War II and the Holocaust.
