In My Shopping Bag (43)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.
Through her guidelines, your post does not actually have to be named the same and thus my post shall be..."In My Shopping Bag".  (just fits with the "foodie" theme a bit better in my humble opinion)
Let's take a peek inside my shopping bag from this past week....

Review

Scent of the Missing:  Love & Partnership with a Search-and-Rescue Dog by Susannah Charleson
(courtesy of Julie at FSB Associates)
When I first saw this book on their site, I jumped at the chance.  I mean not only does the book sound amazing and heart warming....how can you resist that face!

Scumble by Ingrid Law (ARC)
When I found out I managed to snag a copy of this one, I was SO excited!  I read the first one in this series, Savvy, last year (my review) and I must say it was a great story filled with magic and learning how to be oneself.  High hopes for this one...

Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist, Book 2:  The Basilisk's Lair by R.L. LaFevers (SIGNED)
(courtesy of the author herself)
The arrival of this one is kind of funny...I had been checking out the NetGalley catalog and discovered the author's third book in this series, Nathaniel Fludd, Beastologist, Book 3:  The Wyverns' Treasure (in stores October 4th), available for review, but not the second.  GASP!  Being the avid reader I am, and taking into account how much I loved the first book, I couldn't skip over book 2...it's be crazy!  I was lamenting on Twitter (who doesn't) about my discovery when one of my long time follows (and follower...thank you!) who happens to be R.L. LaFevers herself, saw my tweet and...well, the rest is history!  I'm now the proud owner of this SIGNED copy and shall happily begin reading very soon...

Pegasus by Robin McKinley (ARC)
Destination Elsewhere Sampler
(courtesy of Sara at Penguin Group / G.P. Putnam's Sons)
This was an unexpected arrival as I had put my name in for a chance at one back in April and hadn't heard anything.  I was hopeful, but not counting on it.  When I was younger I LOVED unicorns...seriously...and pegasus are so close, just minus the horn, not to mention the story sounds just lovely.  Mark your calendars...it arrives this November!

New Tricks by David Rosenfelt
(courtesy of Hachette Book Group)
Okay, so the cover definitely caught my eye when I saw this book option, but the story sounds interesting as well!  Look for an upcoming giveaway for this title!

Won
(5) copies of The Secret Life of Ka by Christopher Pike (ARC)
Imagine my surprise when FIVE showed up on my doorstep!  One of course is for moi to review, one is up for grabs RIGHT NOW in the 'When Karma Bites, HOLD YOUR OWN...CONTEST!', and the others...we shall see.

Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen (Sampler)
To me there are some books that just sound better when read aloud.  You get the full scope of the words and accents used by the author.  I read the first few pages like that and yep...so far, it seems pretty good!

Received

Thunder and Blood by Stacey Voss (SIGNED)
+ SIGNED bookmark
(from the author herself)
You may or may not remember my review of this title last year (just in case you're curious...my review) but it was a rather interesting book making the rounds on a blog tour via the author and I'm very happy to add it to my personal library.  Oh, and it looks like the second installment (Thunder and Ice) should be making it's way into the literary world soon as well, so stay tuned for that....

That's all for this week!
What did YOU get?
Do tell!

Until next time....happy reading!

You have all sorts of good things in your bag this week! I was always a fan of unicorns as well, really anything horse-related, so I'm definitely going to be checking Pegasus out:)
