Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining a TLC Book Tour already in progress starring a Contemporary Romance with a drawl. That's right. We're venturing into cowboy territory but before you think I've flown off my rocker and am ready to ride off into the sunset, it's not all about the ten-gallon hat and boots...thank heavens! Sorry, not a cowboy sorta girl, but I DO enjoy a good story, hence...the title on deck for today...

About the book...
In Copper Ridge, Oregon, a cowboy's best friend might turn out to be the woman of his dreams…
If Finn Donnelly makes a plan, he sticks to it. After his brothers left Copper Ridge, Finn stayed behind, determined to keep their ranch going by himself. And when he realized his feelings for Lane Jensen were more than platonic, he shoved that inconvenient desire away. It was easy…until it wasn't. Suddenly his brothers are coming home to claim their share of the property. And Lane is no longer just in his fantasies. She's in his arms, and their friendship is on the line…
He's been her buddy, her handyman, her rock. But until that one breathtaking kiss, Lane somehow overlooked the most important thing about Finn Donnelly—he's all man. They're right together, no matter how much his volatile past has bruised him. Finn wants to hold Lane's body, but he doesn't want to hold her heart. But Lane is falling fast and now she's got a plan of her own…to show Finn there's nothing hotter than friendship turned to slow-burning love.

Finn and Lane.
Lane and Finn.
Since she arrived in town as a seriously saddened teenager (with uber good reasons), they've been a matched set...but not in the way that you might think. He's been her protector, her friend, her shoulder to lean on , her Mr. Fixit, her...everything, but not in that ONE way. Why? Well, friendship was more important and NEEDED at the time, plus a smidge of age difference...but they're both grown now and six years isn't really that much when the fires have been burning for at least that long. That's right. While there in the background, they've managed to push them down or simply not acknowledge them at all, all these years. Too bad...or rather not. Walls are about to come crumbling down, left and right, leaving no room to hide...no matter how desperate they BOTH might be to seek retreat. Will it ignite a passion to remember, or blow a great friendship out of the water? Guess you'll just have to read it to see...
So, I loved the story, and all the family matters and secrets to boot, but the characters, hmm. I was left a little split down the middle. Lane was a great gal. Seriously, we'd be friends! She has a good head on her shoulders (even if their holding the weight of the world), tends to her relationships (even if she denies certain feelings), and just really makes a lasting impression. Now, her male cohort...Finn. Let's chat. Alpha male much? Yeah...but sometimes to the extent of a total BUTT! I get it, he felt he had to push her to see what was there in front of them, but the lines he drew between their friendship and a possible "what if" at times were enough to make me question him as our possible sharer the saddled horse (you know, waiting to ride off into the sunset). Don't get me wrong, he had his moments and they did outnumber the bad with passion to spare, but still...he definitely deserved the wake up call from his older brother. (You go Cain!)
In the end, it was a fun and compulsive read from start to finish. It's got passion, friendship, romantic possibilities, and family...what more could you ask for? Recommended read for Contemporary Romance fans, whether inclined to western wear or not. ^-^
