HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining up with Rachel's Random Resources for a stop along their current tour featuring a lot of horse play. No, really...it's an equestrian series so yeah, horses are the preferred cup of tea for one and all of these characters, though some are more dedicated at heart than others. It's book two in the Sweetbriars series and although I've not read book one, it can definitely work as a standalone. So grab your breeches and don your riding helmets, it's time to cantor towards today's ebook of choice...
Sweetbriars, Book 2

About the book...
After Tabby’s father vanishes, a deep rift develops in Tabby’s family. Tabby’s mother is focused on being a star performer in her pharmaceutical sales career, while Ava, Tabby’s older sister, is living with grandparents in Cornwall. Tabby feels neglected by her mother and jealous of Ava and although outwardly diligent and responsible, she’s like a kettle about to blow its top… bottling things up until it’s nearly impossible to keep a lid on her frustration and sadness.
Tabby finds solace with her best friends Cate and Violet at Sweetbriars Farm where she is nursing her dream horse Bliss back to peak performance, to be able to participate in the try-outs for the British Young Riders Squad.
Tabby also finds herself facing other challenges – saving her beloved horse Nancy from the knacker’s yard and finding the courage to tell her friends the truth about her family.
Will Tabby be able to save the horses she loves and be brave enough to tell people how she really feels?

If you're a fan of horses, a young rider who dreams of competition in the ring, or someone who simply enjoys their majesty, beauty, and strength...this one's for you.
This a story about following our passions, speaking up for those who have no voices, treating others with kindness whether two or four legged, and never giving up. Tabby's life is in flux, but she's not the only one. Her childhood horsey is facing what could be the last ride of her life. Her newfound friend Sophie is having issues at home with her parents, despite her sunny outlook on life. Her besties are both experiencing their own ups and downs in the ring, while trying to chase their own chances at being stars. Her sister is about to pull the sunny shade of life up on her own living arrangements, showing Tabby that life isn't always greener on the other side. There is SO MUCH going on between the pages, I was actually surprised by the depth of it all. Don't get me wrong there is PLENTY of horse play, literally and figuratively, for those that simply want to cross their love of reading with their love of everything horse related, but there's also so much more to satisfy the heart.
All in all, a great pick for older Middle Grade readers and beyond. There's a roller coaster ride of emotions between these pages, and my heart grew three sizes alone when she helped Nancy, and the downtrodden "G", but upon turning the final one, you'll be left in awe at the size and power of one little girl's heart.
