About the book...
Right girl. Wrong Earl.
Lydia Hope-Wallace's secret life as the anonymous author of rebellious political pamphlets has led her into a correspondence with the charming Earl of Strathrannoch. When she learns he's in dire financial straits, Lydia sets out for Scotland to offer him a marriage of convenience - to, erm, herself.
Arthur Baird, Earl of Strathrannoch is stunned when a bewitching stranger offers him her hand in marriage. But when he realizes that his traitorous brother has been writing to her under his name, he's bloody furious.
Desperate to track down his estranged sibling, Arthur needs Lydia's help. What he doesn't need? The attraction that burns hotter each moment they spend together. As Lydia slips past his defences, Arthur will have to risk everything to keep her safe - even his heart...

At first glance... definitely a fan!
I like the detail on the cover (you see the little doggy, right?!), the cover art 🎨 as well as the palette of colors used, and the title is just too curious not to snag my attention and I'm pretty sure that of genre fans in general.
At second glance... a fan once more!
I love the characters the author brings us, the situations she places them in, the tension bubbling just beneath the surface, and the promise of things to come. They're not perfect which makes them even more real AND likeable for that matter. We all know someone that would rather be left to their tasks than bothered by social interactions and society dictation, even if we might BE that somebody in question! We can all self reflect and find times in our lives where we wish we spoke out, or perhaps did and the results weren't what we anticipated. We can all strive to be as forward and yet thoughtful as our leading lady, and unexpectedly dashing and caring despite rough exteriors as our leading man. The players work their magic in this tale leaving us with the fabulous results that come when a great story idea manifests on the page thanks to a well guided hand.
At final glance... I'd recommend it wholeheartedly and without reservation! It's a blast from start to finish with surprises, moments of fluster, and some definite STEAM 😉. The characters are memorable, and the events enough to lose yourself in for a proper reading escape without getting too heavy.
