Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to FORGIVEN by Garrett Leigh - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're rolling out the virtual red carpet for a NEW Contemporary Romance out now via Carina Press! It's a story filled with broken hearts that never quite forget each other, long held resentment from feelings left unspoken, new beginnings that certainly have more caution than welcome signs, unexpected danger, and a whole lot of smoke that signaling a fire that may never quite burn out (virtually...we're talking about chemistry here, in case I got a little long winded and lost you!). Sound good? Great! Let's DO this then! Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to today's ebook of choice...

About the book...
High school sweethearts Mia and Luke get a second chance at love in this brand-new contemporary romance from award-winning author Garrett Leigh.

When Mia Amour returns to England to open a florist shop, all she wants to do is put her lousy ex behind her and never look back. But getting a fresh start is easier said than done when her first love, the boy who once broke her teenage heart, strolls back into her life. He’s every bit as sexy as she remembers, and the urge to melt back into his arms almost makes her forget how devastated she was when he took off without a word. Almost.

Left with no choice, Luke Daley did what he had to do, leaving town to earn enough money to save his broken family, though it just about broke him, too. But now he’s back, running his uncle’s business and trying desperately to forget about Mia, the girl he left behind all those years ago. When he runs into her in town, the shock of seeing her again brings an intense rush of emotions: love, guilt…and an overwhelming urge to find out if it’s still as amazing between them as it used to be.

It doesn’t take either of them long to give in to desire and discover the fiery passion they once shared burns hotter than ever. With each new touch, each moment of forgiveness, old hurts heal and the future they’d hoped for ten years ago becomes possible again. But their fragile connection is tested by a threat neither of them saw coming—a threat that could end their second chance before it even gets started.

**  Quick word of caution, this book tends to run both HOT in the match up department and LOOSE in the language arena, so if you tend to shy away from scenes that definitely get a bit down and dirty, or the F-bomb is going to fray your nerves too thin, it may not be the best match for you. Now that being said... **

Mia and Luke are both forces to be reckoned with.  Whether in business or pleasure, they attack the situation with everything they've got...including their hearts, no matter HOW MUCH they'll try to deny it.  When they are together, the force is multiplied by 100 and windows can be blown by the sheer force of their chemistry.  Even with time having passed, and hurts lingering from their shared history, those feelings were grounded in something stronger, and despite the fact that neither wants an entanglement with the other, the heart wants what it wants.

Watching these two play cat and mouse with their hearts are humorous, frustrating, and ultimately satisfying...and I'm not being masochistic.  Seeing them knock down each others walls, struggle through the awkward times, and try to find their footing was a treat.  Grant it, I think both them and I could have done without the creepy stalker activity and death threats, but hey, that's part and party to getting them to where they need to be...so I say bring on the hard times; these two (if they ever really get it together!) can take on anything life throws their way!

In the end, the potential couple to be was a perfect fit, and I really liked the familial aspect with Gus and Billy.  My only regret was that I wish the stalker aspect was fleshed out more instead of the instant reveal and final outcome all in one...but it did have closure, so there is there.  Recommended for adult Contemporary Romance fans who like some smoke AND fire in their nightly reading...

Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to HERE TO STAY by Adriana Herrera - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Carina Press for a stop along their current blog tour featuring an author who's latest work is celebrating its BOOK BIRTHDAY this very day!  Exciting, right?  Well then, hang on tight because we're just getting started.  Ladies and gents, get your Contemporary Romance reading on with today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

About the book...
Award-winning, highly-acclaimed author Adriana Herrera delivers the sexy, modern enemies-to-lovers romance you’ve been waiting for.

Starting over is more about who you’re with than where you live…

Julia del Mar Ortiz is not having the best year.

She moved to Dallas with her boyfriend, who ended up ditching her and running back to New York after only a few weeks. Left with a massive—by NYC standards, anyway—apartment and a car lease in the scorching Texas heat, Julia is struggling…except that’s not completely true. Running the charitable foundation of one of the most iconic high fashion department stores in the world is serious #lifegoals.

It’s more than enough to make her want to stick it out down South.

The only monkey wrench in Julia’s plans is the blue-eyed, smart-mouthed consultant the store hired to take them public. Fellow New Yorker Rocco Quinn’s first order of business? Putting Julia’s job on the chopping block.

When Julia is tasked with making sure Rocco sees how valuable the programs she runs are, she’s caught between a rock and a very hard set of abs. Because Rocco Quinn is almost impossible to hate—and even harder to resist.

Julia is a transplant from New York to the deep South.  Outside of the crazy temperature difference, and the sudden lack of love in her life, she's settling in with a fab new job, and a great apartment....but she misses her friends!  She's not unfriendly; she's just missing those she knows and loves...so, taking the bull by the horns like any NYC gal, she sets up a gathering for other New Yorkers looking for that familiar connection brought about by dodging traffic, living in over priced small spaces, and treating driving like it's something you'd rather not do.  Does it work?  Sure...but there's a catch.  Her new job is being reevaluated as the business makes some changes (significant ones!) and that puts her role on the line...oh and hello monkey wrench!  The guy doing the eval's?  Yeah...he's one of the displaced (who's also trying to take care of not only his life, but family!)...and he's not a hardship for the eyes (though neither is she!)...and he may feel the same way (major sparkage!)...and she can not seriously afford for anything to happen right now (ditto for him!)...but you know, heart's and wanting what they want and....yeah, things are about to get WAY MORE complicated than either of them need.

New York City 2020: Top 10 Tours & Activities (with Photos ...

The story grows from there and the connections forged, problems faced, and obstacles overcome are great, fantastic, couldn't have felt more realistic!  The issue of the people not being representative of the people they are there for was truly felt.  The fact that change comes from some taking small steps in the name of a bigger cause was noteworthy.  The fact that the main characters were both of backgrounds and family histories that included multiple nationalities and heritages that they were proud of was definitely made known.  My only issue was the language during parts of the book and the fact that the excessive use of such language was supposed to be indicative of the fact that a person was a "true New Yorker".  Umm...maybe in some parts, but I wouldn't use it as a general classification and honestly, during those parts of the book, I was pulled away from what was happening to the point of distraction.

Overall, a good story that certainly adds to the diverse literature culture needed in the publishing industry...just be prepared for the language factor going in and take care to focus around it to take everything in.  (or not, if it doesn't faze you!).

While some may very well doth protest too much...
...these two could set the vineyard on FIRE!

Alright, I made mention before, but let me say it again...
...ADULTS ONLY...
...for this one has language (blame the rockstar, mostly), situations (compromising to say the least), and scenes that will definitely not suit those that prefer no higher than blush worthy levels of heat.  As for my preference, I could have done with a tone down, but it was my first exposure to this series, so I managed and completed the read.  Now, on to that story...

We've got two VERY STRONG characters with equally STRONG reputations...and I can't say I mean the last part in the best of lights.  She's known as the party princess, but those ways aren't as recent as some would like to imagine.  He's known as the washed up rockstar that can't keep it in his pants, but...okay, well he sort of still is in that phase so I guess some perceptions are accurate.  Anywho, introduce a drunken night, loose lips that sink ships, and you've got a scandal that could make one a rising star again and the other go down in flames.  Good thing PR people are paid the big bucks to turn these challenges into opportunities, then again...maybe not.  Him and her in the same country is bad enough, but in the same room, you'll be dodging daggered glances from her side while he tries to find his way back into her good graces.  The pro-mance could work, but, umm....yeah...things kick up several notches VERY FAST, and then it's the two of them not simply trying to figure out their own lives, but the reality behind #Aisha.

I gotta say, despite the hot and heavy times aplenty, and I mean we're talking present day and in the past, I was really glued to the page.  I wanted to see if the PR "stunt" would work out and HOW.  I wanted to know if the insidious letch that was the stuffed shirt winemaker of her area had everything rubbed in his face.  I needed to see the her mom (the queen) taken down several notches (the nerve of the woman...and with her history!).  I desired to see just where these two enamored yet broken souls would land and would it be together. We get a little, tiny bit technical on the winemaking side of things, but it shows the author did her homework, and gave additional credit to our leading lady...and even our leading fella, even if his dreams were more superstardom born than family legacy.

All in all, it's a HOT READ that will leave your burning...through the pages!  Discover the world of the Filthy Rich and see just how the other half really live!

About the author...

Angelina M. Lopez wrote "arthur" when her kindergarten teacher asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up. In the years since she learned to spell the word correctly, she's been a journalist for an acclaimed city newspaper, a freelance magazine writer, and a content marketer for small businesses. Finally, she found her way back to "author."

Angelina writes sexy, contemporary stories about strong women and the confident men lucky enough to fall in love with them. The fact that her parents own a vineyard in California’s Russian River Valley might imply a certain hedonism about her; it's not true. She's a wife and a mom who lives in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. She makes to-do lists with perfectly drawn check boxes. She checks them with glee.

About the book...
ROOMMATE WANTED to share a gorgeous sun-filled apartment in Central Harlem. Must love cats. No ex-husbands or wives need apply.

 Seventeen years ago, different dreams pulled Simon Mizrahi and Lana Kai apart. But when Lana takes a position as a chef back in Manhattan, her apartment search puts her right in her ex-husband’s path. Music teacher Simon is also hunting for a new place to live, and when Lana proposes they be platonic roomies, well…it’s not the worst idea he’s ever heard.

A sunny uptown two-bedroom sounds far more appealing than the cramped, noisy space where he’s currently struggling to work. Still, Simon has seen firsthand that Lana’s a flight risk, so he agrees on a trial basis.

Three months. With strict boundaries.

 Living together again feels wonderfully nostalgic, but when the ex-couple’s lingering feelings rise to the surface, the rules go out the window.

 Of course, chemistry was never their problem. But while Simon’s career feels back on solid footing, Lana is still sorting out what she wants. With their trial period soon coming to an end, they’ll have to decide if their living arrangement was merely a sexy trip down memory lane or a reunion meant to last.

~~~ EXCERPT ~~~
She kissed him as they traveled uptown, under the too-bright lights of the rattling, rumbling 2 train, her hands stealing up past the thick collar of this coat, to his warm neck, to his hair.
We’re disgracing ourselves,” Simon murmured, even as he nipped her earlobe and his fingers found the zip of her jacket and pulled it down. “Making out on the train, like teenagers.”
He watched the progress of the zipper avidly, as if it would reveal more than her scarf, her sweater, more layers and layers of clothing, as if he could see down to her skin. Then he tipped his tongue up to catch her again in a lush kiss.
She pushed her breast, or the area of her clothing that covered it, shamelessly into his hand, and he gave a muffled gasp that only made her wilder. The train seat felt too smooth and unsatisfying against her restless thighs.
Every stop on the walk home was marked by where they paused to kiss, where Simon pushed her up against a wall, and she ground her hips against his. A car slowed once and honked while they were pressed on the brick beside a beauty salon. Its headlights illuminated their desperate bodies, causing Lana to bury her head in the front of Simon’s coat. Simon laughed softly, an edge of incredulity in the sound.
We should get back.”
Yes.”
They hurried now, swinging around the corner and down the block, through the gate and up, up the stairs, the thumping of their footsteps loud and urgent. Lana couldn’t help blushing at how impatient their running sounded. She and Simon burst in the door and into their dark hallway. Before the door fully closed, they’d fallen on each other, tripping in their haste to kick off shoes and unzip and unbutton each other, to unwind. It was as if they expected someone would stop them, someone wise and mature who’d tell them to think this through. But of course, they were the adults here, they were the ones in charge.
The fact that this was a bad idea only made Lana want it more.
TLC BOOK TOURS presents... The Austen Playbook by Lucy Parker!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining TLC Book Tours for a stop along their current promotion featuring the latest addition to the London Celebrities series by Lucy Parker.  It's COMING SOON to a bookstore near you via Carina Press and will draw not only readers of Contemporary Romance, but those that favor Austen inspired works.  How so?  Well, the TITLE should give that away a smidge (LOL!), but there is a plethora of familiar faces running about that add to the classic splendor.  Ladies and gents, please quiet down as we draw the curtain back on today's blog tour guest and book of choice...
London Celebrities, Book 4
by
Lucy Parker
Carina Press
About the book...
In which experienced West End actress Freddy Carlton takes on an Austen-inspired play, a scandal at a country estate, an enthusiastic search for a passion outside of acting…and the (some people might say icy*) heart of London’s most feared theater critic.
*if those people were being nice
Freddy Carlton knows she should be focusing on her lines for The Austen Playbook, a live-action TV event where viewers choose the outcome of each scene, but her concentration’s been blown. The palatial estate housing the endeavor is now run by the rude (brilliant) critic who’s consistently slammed her performances of late. James “Griff” Ford-Griffin has a penchant for sarcasm, a majestic nose and all the sensitivity of a sledgehammer.
She can’t take her eyes off him.
Griff can hardly focus with a contagious joy fairy flitting about near him, especially when Freddy looks at him like that. His only concern right now should be on shutting down his younger brother’s well-intentioned (disastrous) schemes—or at the very least on the production (not this one) that might save his family home from the banks.
Instead all he can think of is soft skin and vibrant curls.
As he’s reluctantly dragged into her quest to rediscover her passion for the stage and Freddy is drawn into his research on a legendary theater star, the adage about appearances being deceiving proves abundantly true. It’s the unlikely start of something enormous…but a single revelation about the past could derail it all.
“There’s more drama offstage than on, the writing is outstanding, and the bit of mystery blends well into the romance. Theater fans will devour this lovely contemporary romance.”-Publisher’s Weekly, starred review, on The Austen Playbook
“The London Celebrities series-some of the wittiest, smartest dialogue to come down the romance pike in years.”-Kirkus ReviewS of London Celebrities series
Once upon a time, there was a great stage actress in the making.  By all accounts, the theater was in her blood and her family history backed that up one hundred percent...but sometimes what we WANT to do and what we OUGHT to do are two different things, and therein lies the conundrum.  The OUGHT will lead her down the path to greatness, and establish her as an actress to remember filling time honored roles and following in the footsteps of her familial predecessors.  The WANT in this case is a lot more fun, and less serious, but it will make her happy and allow her inner talent to truly be on display.  To disappoint family and push aside obligations is a tough decision to make...but so is squashing your own dreams to fulfill those of another...
Honest to goodness, for me it was initially a little rocky to get into, but once things clicked...I was hooked! With memorable characters, a multilayered story, a bloody good romantic interlude, and an ending that just felt right...why I do believe Ms Austen herself would be proud.  While it is the fourth book in the series (which somehow I did not know until writing this post!), it does work fine as a standalone...but then again, the more the merrier!  You'll enjoy the theatrical performances both on and off stage, the witty repertoire, the Darcy-esque moments, and the general FUN to be had throughout the story, while being drawn in deeper, and deeper to the unexpected mystery at the heart of it all.
Recommended for Contemporary Romance readers, theater fans, and Austenites alike.
