Taste Testing Tuesdays (62)

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!  Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading
On the menu this week...a classic made over in shades of gray, green, and red (you'll see what I mean)...and a first taste of a YA sequel coming to a shelf near you.
Ready...set...taste!

------------------------------------------------

The wedding took place, and no one other than Elizabeth seemed to suspect the bride's condition.  Mr. Collins appeared happier than he ever had despite the fact that Charlotte had to be reminded to use her fork several times over the course of dinner.
-- pg 110, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
Uh-oh.  Sounds like someone has a condition worth watching...though I don't believe it has anything to do with preparing for the arrival of a little one.  O_O  Reading through this classic with a twist, but the jury is still out as to whether or not my final verdict will be a "yay" or "nay".  Stay tuned...

When Phoebe had arrived in Manhattan four months ago from California, she had wanted her New York to be like the one she had seen in the movies.
Now it was, in a sense.
The only problem was that it was the wrong kind of movie.
-- pg 84, The Trust (A Secret Society Novel) by Tom Dolby (ARC)

This one I'll just be cracking the spine on today, so we're both getting our first official taste right now.  I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so my hopes are set high for this one.  We shall see what happens, but I have a feeling it'll be GOOD.  This book is scheduled for release the first week of February.  Mark your calendars!

Great teasers! I have been wanting to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. All these classic twist novels are rather intriguing. Wonder what the authors would think, lol!

Great teasers! I have Pride and Prejudice and Zombies sitting on my TBR shelf. I've been meaning to pick it up. I am definitely intrigued. I will keep my eye out for your review.

Yeah, I'm just not sure about the whole mash-up thing. I guess first thing is that I'm not a huge "classics" reader to begin with, so to "re-read" ala vampires/zombies seems like such a stretch. I'll have to wait and see what you decide.

And The Trust is another I've got on my shelves hopefully to be read in the very near future!

Happy Reading! :o)

Taste testing a zombie? ahhh....

Melissa: Oooh...good to know!

April: Good question. *ponders*

Christina: Sounds good! The last mash up I read was pretty good so we shall see....

the1stdaughter: *nods* Totally understand....inronic part, I've never read the original of this mash up or the last mash up I read previously. Some say though that it let's you enjoy the story more since you aren't comparing the two. We'll see... ^_^

Cherry: LOL! Okay okay...no tasting the zombie....you know what I meant. ^_^

Haha I really love the quote from The Trust! "the wrong kind of movie" -- that opens up so many possibilities!

We read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies last year for my book club. I started it and though it to be rather ridiculous so I stopped. poo on me, I know but really, it wasn't my cup of tea at all.

I read a book from the Zombies canon - Dawn of the Dreadfuls - http://tributebooksreviews.blogspot.com/2010/05/steve-hockensmith-dawn-of-dreadfuls.html

They are an acquired taste.

Casey: Exactly what I thought when I read it! ^_^

Michelle: Sometimes it happens that way....at least you tried it. I had a fairly decent experience with another mash-up so we'll see how this one turns out... ^_^

Tribute Books: Oh, I didn't read that one....will have to check out your review. I hear they are coming out with a third book later this year as well (for those with the "acquired taste"..hehe). ^_^

I love the movie reference in the second one. How true. How sometimes films cloud our judgment :)

Here is my super dooper late TT

Juju: Agreed! Love that line as well...off to check out your teaser! ^_^
