About the book...
Patient, peaceful Phoenix tries to take care of rambunctious and cold-ridden Dragon, which leads to hilarious and sweet results (with vibrant illustrations by the Caldecott Medal-winning creator of Beekle).

Everyone knows that dragons are fierce, capable of taking on the world!

But this dragon can’t stop sneezing long enough to get a roar out. Even with friendly Phoenix insisting that Dragon get some rest, this powerful creature refuses to stop for any orange ginger tea or a drop of bone broth soup.

It’s only when Dragon realizes Phoenix has caught the same cold that they are both able to take the break they so badly need. This tale of helping your friends and valuing differences is a sure-thing for story time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a story for the ages...the STRONG, POWERFUL, UNSTOPPABLE dragon is under the weather and too STRONG, POWERFUL, and...STUBBORN to stop and take the rest he really needs to be UNSTOPPABLE again.  Lucky for him, Phoenix has his back, but that's only if he can get him to LISTEN!  Oye...what IS IT about those with strong personalities that make them just as strongly sure that they are the only ones that know best when their body is telling them otherwise?  Tell me you don't know someone JUST LIKE DRAGON...yeah, that's what I thought...but I bet you also know someone JUST LIKE PHOENIX.  Am I right?  Perhaps you're the latter, taking care of others...whether they like it or not; or maybe you're the former and never know when to call it quits.  In either case, EVERYONE needs a break sometimes...friends, caretakers, or otherwise.  There's nothing weak about taking care of yourself, but you can't be strong for others, if you aren't strong enough to care for yourself.
With colorful illustrations throughout, the tale comes to life in vivid detail...all the moments of Dragon being Dragon (side eye and all), and Phoenix being Phoenix (all smiles and pearls of wisdom).  It's comical the lengths that Phoenix has to go to in order for Dragon to listen, but it's also sweet because Phoenix cares THAT much.  When the time comes for Phoenix to rest, Dragon finally sees the error of his ways, and heeds the advice being gifted to him all along...and hopefully readers will take a little of that lesson away with them as well.  A great combination of story, imagery, and cultural influences, that will leave readers with a smile and a warm heart.
