RRR presents... ELODIE'S LIBRARY OF SECOND CHANCES by Rebecca Raisin - REVIEW!

HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

So, you may have noticed the blog was a little quieter than usual the past two days. Unfortunately, I had a lot going on in real life, and quite frankly was ever so grateful for the break in my blogging schedule. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE BOOK BLOGGING and everything that goes with it, but, as with anything, when your time gets drawn so very thin, it can make finding your footing rather precarious...much like the leading lady of our story.

Today, we're back with Rachel's Random Resources as we discover the next release from author Rebecca Raisin. Trust me readers, you're going to love it. Why? Well, the knee jerk answer of "because I said so" is not enough without backing, but when I throw in the fact that there is a lot of bookishness within the story including a publishing house, librarian, small town library, people library, and a hottie reporter with a potential heart of gold that knows what book boyfriends are without being told. *sigh* Yes, we're living the dream, and on that note, let's get between the pages of today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

Elodie’s Library of Second Chances
by
Rebecca Raisin

About the book...
An uplifting story about fresh starts, new beginnings and the power of stories, from the bestselling author of Rosie’s Travelling Tea Shop!

When Elodie applies for the job of librarian in peaceful Willow Grove, she’s looking forward to a new start. As the daughter of a media empire, her every move has been watched for years, and she longs to work with the thing she loves most: books.

It’s a chance to make a real difference too, because she soon realises that there are other people in Willow Grove who might need a fresh start – like the homeless man everyone walks past without seeing, or the divorcΓ©e who can’t seem to escape her former husband’s misdeeds.

Together with local journalist Finn, Elodie decides these people have stories that need sharing. What if instead of borrowing books readers could ‘borrow’ a person, and hear the life stories of those they’ve overlooked?

But Elodie isn’t quite sharing her whole story either. As the story of the library’s new success grows, will her own secret be revealed?

Okay, so this is another fangirl type moment/review.
You have been warned.
😁

Honestly...as if I would be anything but honest...I loved this one from the word GO.  Elodie is such a wonderful character, full of heart, dreams, and a love for books that rivals my own.  Thing is, she's been put in a position in life that many would envy, but it wasn't her dream.  One thing leads to another and serendipity, or fate steps in and BOOM...she's in Willow Grove; this darling little town that just screams Hallmark movie moment, but GASP...they are in danger of losing their library!  Our fabulous leading lady takes on the challenge with a full heart...and an assumed name, well sort of, to swoop in all on her own and save the day...hopefully...probably...with any luck and A LOT of help.

Her idea for the People Library was genius...and quite honestly, something I'd love to see done in our own local library.  Her diligence to see this project through was heartwarming.  Her enthusiasm for the written word, her understanding of its power, and how the library is more than a house for books, but something special to every patron that seeks it out, all touched my bookish heart.  Elodie truly believed in her dream and wanted to make it a reality not simply for herself, but so that no one, not even the most ignorant of the town of Willow Grove would have to do without.  The friends she makes along the way, from Alfie to Harry, Pete to Sophie, all have stories to share and knowledge to impart. Even Finn, the reporter who's story stole her heart in the first place, is leaving his mark on both her endeavor AND the woman herself.

Suffice it to say that by book's end, several heartfelt wishes are answered, and love conquers all in surprising ways.  It's a book that Contemporary Fiction fans will adore with a bookish slant that can't be ignored!

Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today's featured title in the REVIEW spotlight comes to us via Rachel's Random Resources and gives us a story to fulfil all (okay, SOME) of our bookish fantasies.  Don't believe me?  Well then, let's get the introductions done right and dive between the pages!  Get ready to turn the page on your next potential must read...

The Borrow a Bookshop Holiday
by
Kiley Dunbar

About the book...
The Fully Booked Bookshop CafΓ© invites literature lovers to run their very own bookshop … for a fortnight.

Spend your days talking books with customers in your own charming bookshop and serving up delicious cream teas in the cosy cafΓ©.

Bookworms, what are you waiting for? Your holiday is going to be LIT(erary).

Apply to: The Fully Booked Bookshop, Down-a-long, Clove Lore, Devon.

Jude Crawley should be on top of the world. She’s just graduated as a mature student, so can finally go public about her relationship with Philosophy professor, Mack.

Until she sees Mack kissing another girl, and her dreams crumble. And worse, their dream holiday – running a tiny bookshop in the harbour village of Clove Lore for two weeks – is non-refundable.
Throwing caution to the winds, Jude heads down to Devon, eager to immerse herself in literature and heal her broken heart.

But there’s one problem – six foot tall, brooding (but gorgeous) Elliot, who’s also reserved the bookshop holiday for two weeks…

As Jude and Elliot put their differences aside to run the bookshop, it seems that Jude might be falling in love with more than just words. Until she discovers what Elliot is running from – and why he’s hiding out in Clove Lore.

Can Jude find her own happy ending in a tiny, tumbledown bookshop? Or is she about to find out that her bookish holiday might have an unexpected twist in the tale…

From the title to the concept, what book lover WOULDN'T be hooked by this one?!  Am I right?!  I mean, I'm pretty sure we've all dreamed about running our own bookshop at some point or another, if not to help connect readers with fabulous titles, to at that very least indulge in all the back stock ourselves!  But I digress...I do believe those dreams never included the running away from something else to reach those dreams aspect of the story, and yet that catalyst is exactly what finds us beside Jude as she tries to make the best of a holiday built for two, all by her lonesome...or not.  Yeah, there's definitely a potential meet cute situation going on here that will have our gal preoccupied, but might I give this little piece of sage advice...if SHE was running from something, what makes her think that HE was any different?  Will the things they are trying to escape hold them back from finding their own happy-ever-afters?  I do believe that the only way to find out would be to crack the virtual spine and see for yourself!

You didn't think I was going to spoil it for you now, did you?  Good...because I would never dream of it!  When a story is so wrapped around its characters, such as this, it can be hard to talk at length about one without revealing all of the other, but it is just that that also makes it special, makes it shine with its own light and find a welcome home in the hearts of book lovers round the globe.  So whether you're twenty or one twenty, give yourself a chance to explore that bookshop dream through the eyes of a soul looking for more than just a few pages of a book, but her very own story that just might be in the making!

Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to... HER WICKED MARQUESS by Stacey Reid - REVIEW!

Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're celebrating a BOOK BIRTHDAY for author Stacey Reid as the newest addition to the Sinful Wallflowers series hits bookshelves via Entangled Publishing!  If you're a fan of Historical Romance filled with fabulous characters, a chatty ton just waiting to be disproved, secret romantic entanglements, danger in many forms, and a well formed plan for revenge that you may be more on board with than you'd at first think...this is SO the book for you!  So, ready...set...feast your peepers on today's title in the spotlight...

by
Stacey Reid

About the book...
Miss Maryann Fitzwilliam is too witty and bookish for her own good. No gentleman of the ton will marry her, so her parents arrange for her to wed a man old enough to be her father. But Maryann is ready to use those wits to turn herself into a sinful wallflower.

When the scandal sheet reports a sighting of Nicolas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, climbing out the chamber windows of a house party, Maryann does the unthinkable. She anonymously claims that the bedchamber belonged to none other than Miss Fitzwilliam, tarnishing her own reputation—and chances of the dastardly union her family secured for her. Now she just needs to convince the marquess to keep his silence.

Turns out Nicolas allows for the scandal to perpetuate for his own reasons… But when Maryann’s parents hold fast to their arranged marriage plan, it’ll take a scandal of epic proportions for these two to get out of this together.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TOO witty?  TOO bookish?
Not in today's world, but back then, it would have set the tongues of the ton wagging with abandon.  Then again, the steps this supposed wallflower is about to take with one notorious rake will do much more than turn heads....MUCH more.
Oh.  My. Goodness.
I loved this book SO MUCH, it's simply ridiculous!
Maryann was the perfect leading lady to see yourself in. The knowledge she held in a time when women were simply to look pretty and keep their opinions to themselves would astound the noblest of men.  The talent she possessed with a rapier was surprising, but grand.  The depth with which she felt, her ability to truly sense the person beneath the persona, her desire to bend for nothing in a marriage beyond true love, and her determination to put an end to plans to marry her off for something less...all were not desirable qualities then to most...except the right one.  Oh, but the right one could not be perceived, could not be chosen, could not have been fathomed to be the rake with which she hoped to ruin herself in reputation only to put an end to those marriage plans her family had in the works for her.   That, my friends, was a completely unexpected development, but OH SO GOOD!
Nicholas had a very carefully cultivated persona, not simply for acceptance in the ton because his title alone and being born a male did that on its own.  No, his reasons were entirely more self serving and yet in the vein of justice that once revealed can not be ignored.  He needed that cover to exact the revenge he sought for one that could no longer fight their own battles.  He needed to stay focused in order to lurk in the shadows undetected, flit behind the scenes to uncover truths well hidden, and reach his ultimate goal despite the passage of time...but then came Maryann.  Their start was certainly gasp worthy, their continuation unexpected, but their connection, despite their very own protests to anything of the sort was mesmerizing.  He didn't need to be driven to distraction; his heart took him their of its own accord with no directions from his own person.  The heart wants what it wants...even if it's too stubborn to admit it, too involved in other business to take care of it, or too driven by darker plans to call it quits and accept the gift being given.  It all comes to a delightful head with an explosive ending you won't expect and a twist that will have your heart in pieces, but rests assured...the Marquess always gets his man (or woman) in the end.
Come along for the ride, or take the reins, as you discover this second release in the Sinful Wallflowers series, and pluck another from the sidelines she has been placed on by society.
RRR presents... BLUE SKIES by Alana Oxford - REVIEW!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Post number two on the site comes to us once again via Rachel's Random Resources, and features a short story from the Contemporary Fiction that is decidedly bookish...and for dog lovers...and for those that want to believe in that magical chance of true love happening upon us when we least expect it but in the best way possible.  Ladies and gents, I present to you today's title in the review spotlight...
Blue Skies
by
Alana Oxford
About the book...
Life isn't always a walk in the park, but when Patrice takes her Pomeranians to the park after a rough day at the office, fate steps in. An unlikely hero comes to the rescue when one of her dogs gets loose. Short, pale, and kind of cute, Seth doesn't have a lot of confidence with the ladies, but he hits it off with Patrice.
But some things might be too good to be true. While Patrice wonders if Seth could possibly be "the one", fate steps in again with a horrible twist. Will it be a deal breaker or just a storm before bright blue skies?
This was such an adorable read!
At first, I actually thought that it might be TOO adorable...I mean, I'm all for things falling into place, fate, and meant to be pairings, but it all seemed a bit too convenient.  No worries though...trouble strikes (hello life!) and things are certainly more on the believable side of things then without going completely off the deep end. Anywho, back to all that GOODNESS...
I loved our main characters; I mean they are bookish AND dog lovers...how can you lose?  I love their little fur babies, a given considering I am a dog lover as well.  I love their meet cute in the park with the rascally Mr. Muffin slipping his collar (the little matchmaker!), and Seth's valiant rescue of said fur baby (who thanks him in a not so polite way!).  I hated to love the discourse that threatened to tear them apart, but again...it did make it more realistic, so there is that.  I also really liked the blue skies theory, or rather the thoughts behind it, as well as the charm bracelet for remembrance.  It's very true...life throws us whatever it wants, but it's up to us to focus on the blue sky moments and bring our lives back into focus.
So, if you're looking for an afternoon escape, and a little injection of Contemporary Romance in your day, CHECK THIS BOOK OUT!
Siege Media presents... Classic Books and Perfumes to Match Them - GUEST POST!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we've got a special GUEST POST coming at you via Siege Media!  I recently heard from Emily and she had a curiously fun post (complete with infographic!) that was optioned to share.  Considering it was also BOOKISH, I had to say YES!  What's it about?  Well, it pairs books with perfumes, and really, if you're a print reader, you have to admit to smelling at least one book in your lifetime, so what's a better way to carry them with you than with a favorite scent to remember it by?  Read on for a few delectable suggestions...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Classic Books and Perfumes to Match Them

Books have the power to transport us to different worlds, making us step into worlds where magic is real, we communicate with aliens and a grand adventure is just around the next corner. Each book we read has its own personality and power inside of its pages.

Book lovers have a special relationship with their books, and often want to share their love for their favorite read. One way to do this? Perfume! Read on for a list of classic novels and the perfumes that celebrate them.

Bibliothèque by BYREDO

This fragrance is an ode to bibliophiles everywhere, and aims to capture the atmosphere of a library.  Combining sweet, floral elements with leather and patchouli,BYREDO wanted to create the scent of leather-bound books and wooden shelves.

“La Mare au Diable”  — George by Jardins d’Ecrivains

Inspired by the life of the prolific writer Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin — known by her pen name George Sand — this scent is romantic, simple and intriguing. With earthy notes of coffee and tobacco combined with florals and citrus notes, this scent is just as inviting and dating as its namesake.

“Dune” — Cinnabar by Estee Lauder

In this science-fiction staple, a drug called “the spice” is coveted by many. Step into the “Dune” by celebrating the spice through scent! Cinnabar by Estee Lauder is intoxicating, mysterious and bold — just like the novel.

“Earthsea” — Aqua Celestia by Maison Francis Kurkdijan

The world of Earthsea is composed of islands and seas, where a vast array of islands is surrounded by an uncharted ocean. Therefore, it makes sense that this series is best celebrated by an oceanic perfume.

“Into the Wild”  — Feuilles de Tabac by Miller Harris

“Into the Wild” is a tale of adventure and exploration that follows Christopher McCandless. To celebrate the serenity and danger of the outdoors, pair this classic memoir with an outdoorsy and woodsy scent.

For more book and scent pairings, check out this infographic:

Will you be mine? - A VALENTINE PROPOSAL by Viv Royce - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're shining the bookish spotlight on another Entangled Publishing title that hit virtual shelves this past Tuesday (01/13/20) and is so good, it simply can't be contained.  If you're looking for a clean Contemporary Romance to call yours for the upcoming February holiday (or any day for that matter!), this is one you DON'T want to MISS!  Ready, set, let's read all about today's ebook of choice...

Little Shops on Heart Street series, Book 2
by
Viv Royce
9781682814963
Entangled Publishing/Bliss

About the book...
Just as free-spirited bookstore employee Cleo Davis faces closure of her beloved shop, the owner informs her it will continue as part of the successful Stephens chain. When the chain's risk assessor, the very reserved, very attractive Mark Stephens, enters the store to look over her business plan, Cleo clashes with him right away. Oil and water have nothing on them.

Mark has always followed the rules. But the minute he steps into vibrant and spunky Cleo’s store, he knows he’s in trouble. One moment he’s in her “craft corner” painting bookends with kids, the next in a bidding war with Cleo at a charity auction. He can't deny that opposites attract, and Cleo’s vivacious personality has him rethinking his life in more ways than one.

But when Cleo’s store officially becomes part of the bookstore chain, Mark will become her boss…and completely off limits.

Be still my bookish heart!
This story had all the love, all the unexpected romance, all the bookish joy readers long for and more.  From an adorable meet-cute (picture a bear rescue involving a book castle with a damsel not so much in distress as she in need of assistance and a somewhat unwilling knight in shiny armor happening upon the scene!) to several near misses, smile inducing bonding (where you totally know they are meant to be) to a big fat question mark of if they will actually end up together (not spoiling it...sorry, not sorry!), it's a Contemporary Romance written for the bookish heart in you, and what's more, it's part of a series that sounds rather heart warming too!

I adored (maybe identified with as well) Cleo for her heart, her warmth, her determination, and her spark.  She knew books were more than simply books, and a bookshop was more than a place to house, showcase, and sell them.  It's a place to build community, a place to make connections and lifelong friendships, a place to celebrate the bookish word as much as the thoughts, feelings, and discussions they spark.  It's a living, breathing "being" as much as a place can be all of those things, and the people that run them play just as much an integral part of the equation.  My heart was with her every step of the way as she fought to find a balance between what she wanted for her future while keeping in mind the good of the current shop owner, and the community at large.  As for our reluctant love interest... Mark was definitely a work in progress, but he had good bones as they say.  He knew in his heart of hearts, buried under all that business mumbo jumbo, that what Cleo had was something special...and I'm not just talking about her business sense.  Yes, she made valid cases for the way they did things, and helped shed light on the "why" behind small town bookshops existences, but she also unknowingly opened his eyes to the beauty around him, helped him recapture the joy he had lost, and aided him in rebuilding his inner foundation in such a way that he could essentially have his cake and eat it too.  Whether or not he'd have a partner for sharing that said cake with...you'll only know if you read it!

In the end, a TOTAL MUST READ, and a series that I might just have to backtrack and check out the first installment.  If you like clean romance with oh-so-much heart and book love to spare, this is definitely the book for you.
