RRR presents... A Love Letter To Paris by Rebecca Raisin - REVIEW!

Time to pack your bags and bid au revoir to loveless summer nights because author Rebecca Raisin has a NEW RELEASE that's just waiting to whisk you away to old Paree. 🇫🇷

Ladies and gents, prepare to meet today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest via Rachel's Random Resources...

A Love Letter To Paris
by
Rebecca Raisin
Boldwood Books

About the book...
Late at night when I wander the streets of Paris, my thoughts turn to her… How do I tell her how I feel? Perhaps, I need to show her…

The pretty little streets of Montmartre are abuzz with a rumour. Apparently a mystery matchmaker, known only as ‘Paris Cupid’, has somehow helped the city’s most famous bachelor find love.

But old-fashioned romantic Lilou is staying very quiet. She’d just wanted to set up her best friend, and to get on with her life selling whimsical old love letters, in Paris’s famous St. Ouen market.

She hadn’t imagined her little Paris Cupid project could ever have attracted so many people looking for true, heartfelt romance. Though the truth is that Lilou adores helping people find the right person. Even if her own love life is nothing short of disastrous.

But then a message arrives. And it’s just for her. Someone is in love with her. Someone who knows her secret. But they’re keeping their own identity secret too… Could it be from cheerful, talkative, flame-haired Felix? Or quiet, beautifully handsome Benoit? Or even Pascale – who drives Lilou mad every day?

After so long of helping others find their soulmate, is it time for Lilou to find love of her own in Paris herself?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I admit, I was caught up in the love story of it all.  The setting, the setup, the unexpected match, and the mysteriously kept identity of the possible "one" for our gal Lilou... all are the perfect ingredients for a summertime swoon. ✨️
She didn't deserve what happened to her in the past. Love gets us all at times, for better or worse, but to have those missteps put on display for all to see was a few steps beyond far. She'll shocked to say the least, Lilou didn't give up on the concept of love... just for herself, which was disheartening for sure. The thing about love though? It's true what they say...it often finds us when we least expect it, and those moments when we've almost given up on it completely can be the most transformative. For her, it wasn't so much disbelief in it, but rather the force of focusing on the happiness of others that opened her heart to the unexpected, yet not unwanted attention. Watching it all unfold was half the magic, but when things come full circle, the true masterpiece can be seen.
A great addition to this author's body of work, and a wondrous title to add to your summer reading lists.
Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to... A CUP OF SILVER LININGS by Karen Hawkins - REVIEW!
HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're grabbing our party hats and throwing the confetti as we celebrate the BOOK BIRTHDAY of the latest release in the Dove Pond series from author Karen Hawkins!  You might recall the MAGIC and BEAUTY that was the first title, The Book Charmer, and if you need a refresher, just click here for my review.  It was a pleasure to read with charm to spare and a great beginning to what we hoped would be a growing series to come.  That time has arrived and without further ado, here comes today's book birthday celebrant and book of choice...
Dove Pond series, Book 2
About the book...
Ava Dove—the sixth of the seven famed Dove sisters and owner of Ava Dove’s Landscaping and Specialty Teas—is frantic.
Just as her fabulous new tearoom is about to open, her herbal teas have gone wonky. Suddenly, her sleep-inducing tea is startling her clients awake with vivid dreams, her romance-kindling tea is causing people to blurt out their darkest secrets, and her anti-anxiety tea is making them spend hours staring into mirrors. Ava is desperate for a remedy, but her search leads her into dangerous territory, as she is forced to face a dark secret she’s been hiding for over a decade.
Meanwhile, successful architect Ellen Foster has arrived in Dove Pond to attend the funeral of her estranged daughter, Julie. Grieving deeply, Ellen is determined to fix up her daughter’s ramshackle house, sell it, and then sweep her sixteen-year-old granddaughter, Kristen, off to a saner, calmer life in Raleigh. But Kristen has other plans. Desperate to stay with her friends in Dove Pond, Kristen sets off on a quest she’s avoided her whole life—to find her never-been-there father in the hopes of winning her freedom from the grandmother she barely knows.
Together, Ava, Kristen, and Ellen embark on a reluctant but magical journey of healing, friendship, and family that will delight fans of Alice Hoffman, Kate Morton, and Sarah Addison Allen.
💜 📚 💜 📚 💜 📚 💜
Another Dove sister, another magically infused dilemma...
...but this time, the choice made once upon a time,..
...may come back to bite with a VENGENANCE.
OH yes.  Those decisions we make out of an abundance of love for someone, may be from the kindness of our heart, but they can still backfire in spectacular ways.  Ask Ava...she knows ALL about that...and yet to see her, to know her, to work with her, is to care for her and see just how very much she cares for those around her.  Her calling in life may be to work with plants, and the outlets she's cultivated through gardening and her specialty teas are a perfect match, but at the heart of it all, she's human.  She can make mistakes even when entirely laced with love and the repercussions of those chances taken can echo through the years.
It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming to be immersed in this story.  From the sister dilemma coming back to life from their shared past to their recent loss of a a dear friend and the challenges presented when change comes in like a wrecking ball...and in the form of a relation you never knew...there is so much here to love, you won't know which shoulder to cry on, or hug to embrace.  The tough times ARE TOUGH, and those Ava inadvertently wronged do not let her off easy, but the joys are equally uplifting, the sisterhood something to celebrate, and the second chances others didn't know they'd be getting a gem to remember.
All in all, a great addition to the series with characters to love and new charms to cherish.  You can feel the family fold growing despite the bloodlines not always being shared, but that's the beauty of family.  It's not always who was born into it, but WELCOMED into it that matters most.  Can't wait to see what the next release has in store for us!
Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to... TO WHATEVER END by Lindsey Frydman - REVIEW!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Here's hoping 2021 is going well thus far, and only sunny days are ahead!  As for me, I've been working an awful lot, but it pays the bills so, yeah, it's better than NOT working...but I've also got a pretty full reading schedule, and some new obligations to the Cybils Awards round two judging to do, so if you don't see me out an about social media wise a bunch this month, that's totally why.  Anywho...
Today's post is really all about CELEBRATING the BOOK BIRTHDAY of a NEW Entangled Teen release that's ready for your immediate consumption...and seriously, you're gonna want to check it out!  It's got otherworldly abilities, best friends, first loves, and danger to spare.  So, if you're ready, let's grab our party hats and a handful or two of confetti because we're about to duck between the epages of today's featured title...
Lindsey Frydman
Entangled Teen
About the book...
What if with every person you met, after just one touch, you have a vision of the last time you’ll see each other? Ever. Normally, these visions are innocent—two friends just drifting apart, a random stranger that brushed past you then never crossed your path again.
But not today.
When I accidentally touch him, within only moments of our first meeting, I’m bombarded by visions of his death.
And from what I can see, I’m the reason he dies.
Now I just need to figure out why, and how to stop this from happening. Because not only am I to blame, but his very last words to me are...I love you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Oh my word!
So, I got SO caught up in this one, it was hard to put down to do normal every day things...like work, or household chores, or pretty much ANYTHING other than read this book!  Somehow I managed it, but it wasn't easy, nor my first choice.  Now about that story...

Quinn's predicament is definitely something to shoulder.  A blessing or curse, however you view her "power" is in the eye of the beholder, but what she's seen most recently is definitely on the darker side of things.  A death, but not just any, nor was it any old way, or of someone if no importance.  No, this was someone she had yet to know, and if her vision is anything to go by (which it always is) yet to LOVE.  How's THAT for a fortune cookie that NO ONE wanted ever?  Yeah, exactly.  So, how to fix it?  CAN it be fixed?  Is anything actually broken or are we embarking on a Final Destination-esque journey that will only end when everyone is taken out?  Questions aplenty, but answers are few and far between.

Watching Quinn and same said mysterious stranger turned potential love (aka Griffin) was SO HARD.  I mean, would knowing your relationship has an expiration date help or hurt?  What about is only ONE party knows?  Yeah, my heart bled for Quinn...but Griffin's life wasn't a walk in the park either, and as we learn more about him, we see where the deadly turn of events could be coming from.  Word to the wise?  Literally about halfway through...there's a twist you won't see coming.  Promise.  Now, later on, there's a few turns that I did see coming, but that could be because of the books I've read previously making me already suspicious of those that your average reader may not be (and since none of you are average, I'm pretty sure you'll pick it up to), but it doesn't ruin anything because, just like Quinn's visions, you just won't believe the outcome until you've read it with your own eyes.  Love is lost for good, life is lost for some, and eyes are opened to things that were kept hidden like so many skeletons in a closet.

All in all, it was definitely a title I enjoyed, but even the best of them can have tiny flaws.  One small mention of a minor pet peeve for me...Quinn's time spent in her head.  Honestly, a big part of the book is her going back and forth about whether to tell or not, can she do anything or not, bemoaning her fate, and the lot.  It's not that I didn't love the girl, but I do think that she might have been able to be investigate everything in the real world as opposed to her mind.  Anywho, obviously from my gushing words above, you can tell it was only a speed bump in my reading adventure because my FINAL VERDICT is that I loved it!  I would highly recommend it to Contemporary Young Adult fans who love a bit of mystery, romance, friendship, and something DARKER that doesn't go BUMP in the night, but BANG!

About the author...

Lindsey has been writing since she was nine years old, when she discovered the awesomeness that is Harriet the Spy. Her books always include a romance, though sometimes there’s an added sci-fi or magical realism twist. She lives in Columbus, Ohio (where the weather is never quite right). Her BFA in Photography and Graphic Design has granted her a wide assortment of creative knowledge that serves as inspiration (and not much else). When she’s not crafting YA and NA stories, you'll likely find her spending waaay too much time on Pinterest, playing a video game, singing show-tunes, or performing in a burlesque show—because she enjoys giving her introversion a worthy adversary. (Plus, it's the closest to Broadway she’ll ever get.) Lindsey was a proud 2016 Pitch Wars Mentee and thoroughly adores being a part of the wonderful writing community. THE HEARTBEAT HYPOTHESIS is her debut novel.

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

If you've got deja vu, you're not wrong.  This is post number TWO of the day and yet another book birthday to take note of...but this one is so very different from the first we featured.  It's a Contemporary Fiction novel that will make and break your heart a hundred times over.  In fact, I wasn't sure how I was going to read it in order to write this review, and I'll tell you why...in just a second, after we introduce today's book birthday celebrant and ebook of choice...

They picture their future as an endless stream of adventures filled with love, laughter, and good times.

But life has one last cruel trick to play…

At one moment heart-warming, the next heart-breaking, this is the story of a desperate dog’s roller coaster journey to be the one thing every good dog dreams of being – a best friend. Through a touching tale, As The Stars Fall explores how compassion can make us whole again and friendship can heal even the most broken of hearts.

I should have never read this book...
...and yet I can't bring myself to regret a moment.

Now, why on earth would I start a book review with THAT sentence?  I blame the tears rolling down my face SO MANY TIMES throughout the book.  I blame my love of dogs and my belief that they should always be with us.  I blame my soft heart wanting GOOD for everyone in life despite what it gives them.  I blame my inability to separate myself from the story enough to avoid the heartache and pain seeping in...and yet without it, nor could I experience the joy.  I blame the state I found myself in by book's end as I lie in bed ugly crying, reminiscing about my own fur babies, past and present, and trying to put myself back together...because the story was just that good.

You see, it's a story that is equal parts intense beauty and heart wrenching agony, all tied up with an adorable fur baby to boot.  It's a story that has all the feels, and I do mean ALL THE FEELS, big enough to drag you around by the nose, like so many scattered scents on the wind to our beloved canines, and toss you amid the stars to frolic, to play, yet to utterly fall under its spell...and now I'm getting all misty eyed again because I'm thinking too much. *sigh...sob...snort*

In it's simplest form, it's a story of life, love, and growing up, told through the eyes of Dog...aka Kai.  His voice leads us through his volatile beginning, passed the hard moments that won't let go and to new starts, only to have things turn on their heads again and again.  I won't go into detail (though I so dearly want to) because it would spoil the experience, but I can tell you, it's not a book you can go into lightly.  It's not a story that can soon be forgotten.  It's not a tale that you can take on without a hefty supply of tissues at the ready and for so many other reasons than the one you may be contemplating as you read this.

Northern Lights: Where can you see Aurora Borealis in the US and ...

In close, all I can say is this...I feel very privileged to have gotten to know Kai and his pack.  Though the story may be Fiction, the heart hidden between the pages glows with such intensity, you can feel it from start to finish.  I know I'll still think of this story years down the road...and be recommending it in equal parts enthusiasm and caution for other tenderhearted readers like myself.

Silver Dagger Book Tours presents... AN ELEGANT SOLUTION by Anne Atkins - SPOTLIGHT + GIVEAWAY!

An Elegant Solution

by Anne Atkins

Genre: Contemporary Fiction

When someone mentions the City of Cambridge you probably think of an iconic building, its four corners stretching out of the once medieval mud and into the arms of everlasting heaven, its white limestone yearning into eternity... and without even knowing exactly what ephemeral joys or permanent wonders the vision brings to mind, it s a safe bet that the one thought which doesn t occur to you is that the Chapel might not be there by Christmas. Theo (Theophilus Ambrose Fitzwilliam Wedderburn to his friends) is a Junior Research Fellow in Number Theory. Prompted by a supervisee to demonstrate how to trace the provenance of bitcoins, Theo happens across a shocking revelation, with embarrassing ramifications for the whole University. Meanwhile he is being stalked unseen by someone from his childhood. To his annoyance, Theo falls for a cheap con... and discovers a horror set not only to rock the very seat of power itself but to change the face of Cambridge and its beautifully iconic image for ever.

Anne Atkins is the author of several novels, most recently An Elegant Solution, a literary thriller set in Cambridge, with a dashing Aspergic hero.

Previous novels are The Lost Child, On Our Own and A Fine and Private Place, all featuring a child’s viewpoint.

She has also written several books of non-fiction. Split Image: Male and Female After God's Likeness, is a layperson’s guide to biblical teaching about the sexes. Child-Rearing for Fun: Trust Your Instincts and Enjoy Your Children gives parents the confidence to know they're getting it right, ideas to help them do it even better, and an awful lot of laughs. Agony Atkins is a compilation of her agony aunt columns in the Daily Telegraph and contains much wisdom and lots more laughs.

RRR presents... THE GREATEST OF ENEMIES by B.R. Maycock - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're welcoming back Rachel's Random Resources for a stop along their current tour featuring the second release in the Abbeyglenn series from author B.R. Maycock.  If you've read the first (Pushing Her Luck), way to go...but if not (*raises hand*), you'll be no worse for wear.  With that being said, let's get to the nitty gritty (because there is OH SO MUCH grit...or rather gritting of teeth to be done!) of today's title in the spotlight and ebook of choice...

The Greatest of Enemies
Abbeyglen series, Book 2
by
B.R. Maycock

About the book...
Get ready for fireworks as two women with very different personalities become housemates!

Bex has settled in well into the small town of Abbeyglen. Yes, she misses her housemate Holly, but she has plenty to do what with the setup of the new Caulfield’s café, her blogging and of course her work in Blackwater Financial Services.

Louise is shocked when she arrives in the town of Abbeyglen to find it has changed, everything looks too new and shiny, and who is this person in Holly’s apartment?!

With Bex’s bff heading for domestic bliss, some unwelcome changes in work, and now the arrival of eternally negative Louise, can Bex remain her usual chirpy self or will handbags at dawn, daytime and night-time too bring out a side to her she never knew existed?

For fans of Sophie Kinsella, Christie Barlow and Rosie Green.
 (This is book 2 of a series but can be read on it's own if you are so inclined!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, let me start out by saying once again that I have not in fact read the first book in the series, however...I'm not certain it would have affected the aspects of the story that were not exactly my favorites.  Here's why...
I did not in fact like Louise's character (and from what I understand, she's mostly a touch point in the first story versus heavily explored)...and I failed to even finally come to terms with her and her actions in the end.  She maybe had a moment or two where she didn't act like a totally self-involved, holier-than-though-highness, and lowered herself in her eyes to act as anything other than a complete arse to Bex who only tried her darnedest to befriend her, her parents who didn't really seem to want to do anything other than be a part of her life, the ex that was never really available from the start yet still holds her heart (so, okay, he deserved some of it), and oh-so-many others that, from what I could see, never truly did anything that hurtful or lasting to her.  Call me character blind, but I simply could not call her an acquaintance, let alone a friend, by book's end.  Now Bex on the other hand...
I actually was rather fond of Bex.  While she could be trying at times and certainly lacked in the self-confidence department now and again, it wasn't anything that anyone else has been through, and survived at some point in their lives.  I love how to finally called out that jacka** that was her crush (though it took several pints and a meltdown to REALLY do it), but also put him in his place about showing dual desires from the start.  I love how she kept trying time and again to find some common ground to get her footing with Louise despite the constant jabs and jibs she was thrown.  I love how she delved in deep at work, losing herself for a time, but managing to build back up and attract the interest of someone rather unexpected (well, to her at least!).  I also loved how she treated people in general...such as the man at the park with the dogs...remembering kindness should also come first before anger or disgust.
So you see, in the end, the characters really make this story, and while I wouldn't say I was in love with everyone, there are certainly many points in its favor that made it an enjoyable read after all.  Just focus on Bex...or have an extraordinarily open heart and mind to handle Louise!
RRR presents... CYNTHIA SMART'S MIDWIFE CRISIS by Liz Davies - REVIEW!
Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're got another Rachel's Random Resources tour on deck and wouldn't you know it, it features another work from the prolific mind of author Liz Davies!  If you're a fan of her other releases, you're in for a treat; if you're new to her work, no worries...it's a stand alone title, so you can totally dive right in!  Ready or not, let's get this show on the road.  Make room on your "to read" list for today's title in the spotlight...
Cynthia Smart's Midwife Crisis
by
Liz Davies
About the book...
Midlife crisis? What midlife crisis?
At forty-four, Cynthia Smart is exactly where she wants to be. Almost.
In a couple of years, she’ll be the CEO of the company she’s spent her most of her adult life working in. For now, though, she’s still busy shimmying up the greasy pole of corporate business. She’s single, carefree, and independent, and nothing can stop her getting what she wants and deserves.
Until she discovers she’s pregnant.
 Determined to have her cake and eat it, she’s convinced that having a baby will make little difference to her life, and that she will be one of those women who can hold down an incredibly demanding job and also be a perfect mother.
 But as her pregnancy progresses and her life slowly falls apart, she has the sneaking suspicion that Max Oakland, the new guy on the block, is out to steal her dream job. That she’s terribly attracted to him doesn’t help, nor does the fact that he’s devilishly handsome, appears to be a really nice fella, and is good in a crisis.
When she gradually comes to realise that something has got to give, what she doesn’t want it to be is her heart.
Perfect for fans of Mandy Baggott, Heidi Swain, and Holly Martin.
How to Fake a Pregnancy Test |
Cynthia Smart has her you-know-what together.  She's on the fast track to get everything she's ever dreamed of, won't take no for an answer, laughs in the face of adversity, and no challenge is ever too big...or in this case, too small.  One little test (followed by another and another and a professional test as well) has her dream falling down like to many cards, but once the big girl panties are on, she's determined to not only own this pregnancy, but keep her self in the running for that coveted higher up position in the company.  I mean, if men can have a family and a high corporate job, then so can women, and being single, unprepared, and taken by surprise will by no means put a monkey wrench in her plans...right?
Honestly, I wasn't sure if I was going to be fully on board with this one at the start.  I seemed as though it was simply going through the motions of what one might think pregnancy is versus the reality of it all and not having been there done that, I felt a little outside the learning curve.  However, once the story line took a bigger curve than her baby bump, once a potential love twist was introduced, once her plans swerved like the tides of her mood swings, and her hormones caught up to her new found obstacles, I was back in the passenger seat and enjoying the ride.  It was great to see a character wanting to take the reins on her journey, unafraid to face it head on by herself (though she did have help from some unexpected places).  It was heart warming to see a male lead not shy away from the entire situation (including the actual midwife crisis!), letting love's potential guide him come what may.  I laughed with them.  I felt their sadness and confusion.  I even felt the joy Cynthia experiences when she REALLY comes to terms with her new situation.
In the end, it was a tender journey taken by a worldly woman on a mission...who discovers that just because you CAN do it alone, doesn't mean you have to, and that some of the BEST things in life come as TOTAL SURPRISES!
About the author...
Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.
She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat - she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.
She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper van and travel the world in it.
